PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Oh, I don't have a lot of time tonight but here is this weeks card I created for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #102 featuring the #Hello Stamp Set.  I can't say it enough, but I LOVE the NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog and this is another one of my favorite stamp sets especially as the 2" Circle Punch matches the stamp set.

SO… Enjoy and hopefully I'll have more time in a day or two to update this blog post.

SUOC #101- Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Welcome back for another challenge from the Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun with our theme being Bows, Bows, Bows.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on July 28, 2014.

SUO Challenge #101

Kinda Eclectic

SUOC101-Pam001

I really am in love with the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and for this card I paired it with another of my favorite stamp sets called Everything Elanor.  One of my favorite techniques is to stamp one image then overlap a few other stamps while stamping off the ink then I love to overlay various elements for a textured elemental look.  This weeks theme is about Bows, Bows & Bows so I really wanted my bow to be dramatic and a focal point of the card.  The Seam Binding is another of my favorite products and I just LOVE the new colors that are available especially this Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon.

SunnyGirlScraps Tips & Tricks:

  • Don't be afraid to expirement with Bold, Fun colors as seen in this card example.
  • A great way to create interest is to overlap stamped images.
  • Use the Seam Binding Ribbon for unique texture.  In this example, I crumpled up the Seam Binding Ribbon, wrapped it several times then attached the Antique Brad to create a multi-layered bow.

Summer Fun RemARKables Pinworthy Tour

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Welcome to this months Pinworthy Blog Tour with the RemARKables!  Each month we feature a new theme.  You'll be able to visit our Pinterest Pages to see additional ideas and more that we pin throughout the month so you'll want to make certain to "Like" my Pinterest Page and especially my "RemARKables Pinworthy" board.

I think you'll enjoy this new format and find plenty of inspiration for our current theme –  Summer Fun!  So, welcome to the July 2014 Pinworthy Blog Tour with the RemARKables!

Pinworthy Blog Tour

Summer Fun

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun, Summer themed projects.  Summer is such a fun time spent with family and, for me, it means I'm usually going somewhere.  This year I'm planning a LONG Road-Trip to Minnesota to visit my family.  My son and I will be driving up to Northern Indiana to visit family then making our way to Minnesota for the month of August.  So, my first project is a card that is a reflection of my summer filled with traveling.  Summer also means "Fun, Bright Colors" so both my projects are a reflection of a BRIGHT color scheme.  The second project is a "Summer" banner for our home.  I just love the Canvas Banners and creating themed Home Decor.

Project #1 – Away We Go

Remarkables Pinworthy Blog Tour featuring Summer Fun projects. Handmade Card created by Pam Staples, SunnyGirlScraps.com, featuring the Around the World Stamp Set

The card base is Whisper White cardstock layered with Tempting Turquoise cardstock and another layer of Whisper White.  On the top layer of Whisper White, I stamped a background using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set using Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.  The Oval is the central focal point of my card and I started by using the Around The World stamp set by stamping the suitcase with Daffodil Delight then the Airplane image with Pumpkin Pie and the camera with Old Olive.  The stamped oval then was attached to the larger Pumpkin Pie oval which I also pierced with the Paper Piercer and Occasions Paper Piercing template.  Next, I attached the three little banners to the card, attached the Essentials Hardware Clip to the oval then layered the oval over the banners.  For this step, I used dimensionals to help the elements POP off the card front so there is some depth of field to the card.  The final touch was adding the "Away We Go" which was stamped in Tempting Turquoise then cut out using the Starburst Framelits.

Project #2 - Summer Fun Banner

Summer Fun Canvas Banner created by Pam Staples for the Remarkables Summer Fun Pinworthy Blog Tour.

This is such a FUN project!  I used the Build A Banner Simply Created Kit which features the 5" x 7" blank canvas paper pennants along with image stencils.  The colors I used are Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler and Tempting Turquoise classic ink to stencil either the stripe, polka dots or chevron image onto the canvas paper pennants.  Another fun feature are all the Pinwheels that I made for the banner.  I was originally thinking of doing flowers on the banner but I live in a household where I'm the only "human" girl and right now my son just LOVES Pinwheels so I thought they would be perfect.  The circles were cut out using my Circle Framelits with the Big Shot then for the "SUMMER" I used my NEW Perfect Print Alphabet Bigz Dies.  I love how the banner turned out and how bright it is as it goes over our fireplace mantel.

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers!

Blended Bloom In My Thoughts Card

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Today I'm sharing another card I created using the Blended Bloom Stamp Set that I colored with the Stampin' Blendabilities.  SO, I'm really addicted to the Stampin' Blendabilities and the beautiful color from the alcohol markers.  The colors I used – Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie – just explode with vitality and makes the Blended Bloom Stamp Set image POP!  I think you'll enjoy this fun card that I made using the Blended Bloom Stamp Set and don't forget to check out my Stampin' Blendabilities Basic Techniques Video if you haven't watched it yet.  You can find my video's on YouTube by clicking HERE!

Blended Bloom

You're In My Thoughts Card

Blended Bloom with Stampin' Blendabilities

As you look at the finished card, notice the contrast and how the blended blooms stand out.  The card base is Whisper White layered with Basic Black and then the colored Blended Bloom layer.  To simply finish off the card, I added the "flag" with a sentiment.  Simplelicity kept by only adding the sentiment while creating a very elegant card.

Quick Tip… TO create the "flag ends" on the sentiment, I use the 1" Square Punch!

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 101 – Perfect Blend Stamp Set

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

The Perfect Blend Stamp Set continues to be one of my favorite stamp sets and I love that it works great with the Stampin' Blendabilities!  I also find inspiration from the current season along with using card sketches and, of course, I LOVE the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch (maybe because I'm the one that creates the sketches!)…  So, now that we are enjoying the HEAT of July, I've pulled out some of my favorite BRIGHT Colors to go along with the Perfect Blend Stamp Set.  This card is a combination of all things that I love – Summer, Coffee (OK, I prefer Iced Coffee with lots of extras), COLOR and the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketches!

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #101

Here is this weeks Card Sketch #101 with the Paper Craft Crew.  We would love to have you come play along and share your creation based on the inspiration of this Card Sketch.  To help you out, go and visit our blog to view the submissions by the other Design Team Members by clicking HERE.

Sunny Girl Scraps Tips, Tricks and More…

  • Off-setting…  You'll notice on my card that I've slightly off-centered the circle element then taken the rectangular sentiment and placed it at an angle along with slightly higher than the circle.  What this does is help draw the viewers eye into the project and subject of the card.  When placing your elements, think about how you can keep your elements flowing from one focal point to another.  On my card, I start with the sentiment then down to the bottom elements with the arrow over to the coffee cup!  OR… you could start with the coffee cup, then the sentiment over to the elemental details to see how each element draws your eye from one section to another.
  • Color!  Don't be afraid to use bright colors on your project or colors you wouldn't normally put together.  I love how the Pumpkin Pie and the Tempting Turquoise work together to create a bright, fun and very summery card.
  • Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 101 with the Perfect Blend Stamp Set featuring the use of dimension.Dimension!  The Stampin' Dimensionals are one of my favorite "tools" to use with paper crafting.  With the Stampin' Dimensionals, an individual can create a nice "depth of field" on a project which helps your elements POP off the card.  It took me a while to discover truly how wonderful Dimensionals are on a card and now I use them all the time!  On your next card, try to use some dimensionals to bring a little "POP" and depth of field to your card.  I think you'll discover that you really love the 3-Dimensional feel of your card.
  • Layers…  Another way to add dimension and depth to your handmade cards is to create a "color" barrier by using the Stampin' Up! cardstock as a layer behind an element.  Notice how I have a Tempting Turquoise circle layered behind the Perfect Blend Stamp Set then I have a layer of Pumpkin Pie behind the sentiment!  What do you think?  By adding these layers, the elements are more clearly seen by the eye since it separates the elements from the Designer Series Paper background.
  • 1/4" Cotton Ribbon Highlight – I really want to share with you how much I LOVE the 1/4" Cotton Ribbon.  This ribbon is so luxurious.  I find that it is very easy to work with and to use on projects.  The 1/4" Cotton Ribbon is quickly becoming a favorite go-to ribbon for me and I KNOW you'll love it as well.

Blended Bloom Stamp Set with a Pumpkin Pie Explosion

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Today I'm sharing the card I created using the Blended Bloom Stamp Set that I colored with the Stampin' Blendabilities in the video from yesterday.  I really love using the Stampin' Blendabilities and the vibrant color achieved with alcohol based markers.  The Pumpkin Pie just explodes with vitality and makes the Blended Bloom Stamp Set image POP!  I think you'll enjoy this fun card that I made using the Blended Bloom Stamp Set and don't forget to check out my Stampin' Blendabilities Basic Techniques Video if you haven't watched it yet.  You can find my video's on YouTube by clicking HERE!

Blended Bloom Just Because Card

Blended Bloom with Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blendabilities

As you look at the finished card, notice the contrast and how the blended bloom really stands out.  The card base is Very Vanilla layered with Basic Black and Typset Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I attached a piece of Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Cotton Ribbon then did an overlay of the Venetian Crochet Trim then tied a bow using both of the ribbons.  The Blended Bloom image which I colored with the Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blendabilities is placed so it overlaps the ribbon.  For a touch of vintage, I added an Antique Brad then the sentiment.  The card is really fairly simple but has a nice pop of color.

Stampin’ Blendabilities Basic Techniques Video

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

The Stampin' Blendabilities are HERE!  Yep, you can now buy 6 of the 12 color assortments.  I have to say that I'm loving the Stampin' Blendabilities and how relatively easy they are to use!  I know Copics have been popular for a while and I'm thrilled that Stampin' Up! is now offering the Alcohol Makers.  Here are my Top 3 reasons why I LOVE the Stampin' Blendabilities…

  1. Coordinating shades per Color Assortment – Light, Medium & Dark!

  2. Easily coordinate with Stampin' Up! colors!

  3. Work great with the Whisper White Cardstock!

Stampin' Blendabilities

Basic Techniques

To help you get started using the Stampin' Blendabilities, I've put together a video touching base on my Top 10 Tips & Techniques for using the Blendabilities.  I've had about 2 months to play with the Blendabilities as well as share what I've learned with other demonstrators.  So, check out the video then don't forget to place your order TODAY for the Stampin' Blendabilities.

So, now that you've viewed the video, here is a summary of my Top 10 Tips for using the Stampin' Blendabilities:

  1. Stamp image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink!
  2. Protect your workspace – the Alcohol markers will bleed through your cardstock as you saturate the cardstock with color.
  3. Start with the Darkest Shade.
  4. Only add a small line of the Dark Shade then overlap with the Medium shade followed by the Lightest shade.  NOTE… Leave a small white space between the color up to the stamped edge which allows for the color to BLEED towards the edge without overlapping the stamped edge.
  5. Blend each shade by using the FINE tip of your marker.  Overlap the Lightest Shade over the Medium and Darkest shades to blend along with pushing color to the edge of the stamped image.
  6. Leave lots of WHITE SPACE to fill in with the Lightest Shade to increase the graduated fading effect.
  7. Work the COLOR!  When blending the colors you are adding & overlapping color so blend the color by working IT!  NOTE… Don't be afraid to push hard with the fine tip of the marker when blending.
  8. Don't over think the LIGHT source for your project especially as a beginner.
  9. Work one SMALL area at a time!  One Leaf, One Petal…  One section at a time working quickly to blend each shade!
  10. Have FUN… Relax and enjoy the process!  Explore the colors and shading.  What works for one person may not be the same process that works for another person.

Stop by tomorrow to see the finished card using the Blended Bloom colored in this video!

PCCCS #100 – Kinda Eclectic

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Oh, I'm so excited!  I can't believe we are celebrating the 100th Card Sketch with the Paper Craft Crew!  It seems like it was just yesterday that we started the Paper Craft Crew and I've enjoyed seeing it grow along with having a wonderful mix of Design Team members.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #100

Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set

I really think I could fall in love with the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set!  This is my first card using this stamp set and it is so much fun.  To create this fun card, I pulled out some bright, fun colors that coordinate with the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.   Which reminds me… During the month of July, when you buy 3 packs of Designer Series Paper you'll receive 1 FREE Pack (Designer Series Paper is found on page 186 & 187).  The colors I use on this card are Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Old Olive.

So, here are some highlights, tips or tricks featured on this card:

  • Coordinate your colors to work with the Designer Series Paper that you are using on your card.
  • To create various shades of one color, stamp off the extra ink.  For the leaves, I used Old Olive Classic Ink which I stamped off to create variations of the leaves in the background.
  • Stamp off the edge of your cardstock to only have a partial image.
  • I have to share that I absolutely LOVE the NEW 1/4" Cotton Ribbon – It is absolutely DIVINE!

BLOG CANDY…

Leave a comment below and you will be entered into a drawing to win some BLOG CANDY!  I will be giving away Island Indigo Chevron Ribbon and Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.

We are so excited to be celebrating our 100th Challenge with the SU! Only Challenges!  The theme is a "Flashback" in time which means YOU get to choose a previous theme.  For my card, I choose Challenge #25 which was to use "Favorite New Stamp Set."  So, for my card and the Favorite New Stamp Set, I'm featuring the Work of Art Stamp Set!

Highlights of the card include:

  • Background featuring Strawberry Slush In Color using a the "Stamp Off Technique."
  • For the flowers, I stamped the colors using the Work of Art Stamp set and used the Itty Bitty Accents Stamp Set to punch out the flowers.
  • Each flower has a pearl embellishment
  • The Thank You is punched out using the Label Bracket Punch.

The colors are really lots of fun and very bold.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.  (And I admit, this card keeps growing on me…)  Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

PCC Card Sketch 99 – Traveler Stamp Set

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

This week I'm back with another sketch from the Paper Craft Crew as we are coming up on our 100th sketch next week (p.s. Keep an eye out for some blog candy!)  Did you know that many of the sketches for the Paper Craft Crew are created by me?  I definitely have me favorites and Card Sketch #99 is on of those favorites.  SO, the Paper Craft Crew invites you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, July 1.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #99

Featuring the Traveler Stamp Set

I LOVE the new Traveler Stamp Set!  It is a great set for creating masculine cards as well as great for vintage cards.  This week, I created a masculine card that I'm planning to give to our neighbor as a "thank you" for mowing our lawn and trimming our hedges while we were on vacation the end of last month.

Sunny Girl Tips & Tricks:

  • Create a fun background using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.
  • Stampin' Dimensionals are great for adding depth to your cards.
  • The Just Sayin' Stamp Set with the Word Bubble Framelits are a fun way to add a sentiment to any card.
  • The Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack is a great source for Designer Series Paper in a small pack that is perfect for making cards.
  • The three stars were stamped using the Something to Say stamp set and the coordinating Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.
  • Sketches are a great way to get your juices flowing!

Here is this week sketch from the Paper Craft Crew!  We are on Card Sketch #99 this week and I think it is a great sketch so come play along and share your card creation as we love to see how you were inspired by the sketch.
