Scary Fun

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun projects.  I had to get creative with this challenge because the one stamp set I REALLY wanted to use STILL has not arrived at my home and is stuck somewhere between North Carolina and Utah through the Mail Innovations.  OK, so with the knowledge that the one stamp set was NOT going to arrive before this post I decided to focus on the Halloween Themed Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper for the handmade card I created and the cute box features the one stamp set I have received called Merry Everything that just happens to have one Halloween themed stamp.  Well, I hope you enjoy the projects I have for you this month and on that note…  Here we go!

Project #1 – Good To the Last Bite Box

The Box is created using the Gift Box Punch Board and is 3.25" x 3.25" x 1.75" so it is a decent sized box!  Then I created a belly band using the Back to Black Designer Series Paper.  The tag features the Merry Everything Stamp Set and is punched our using the Note Tag Punch which coordinates with the stamp set.  To attach the tag, I used Linen Thread wrapped around the belly band a few times then tied a bow and added the Basic Black Chevron Ribbon for additional contrast.  This really is a fun, quick and easy project.

Project #1 Supply List:

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black (132708)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730), Tangerine Tango (111349)

Designer Series Paper:  Back to Black (133700)

Accessories:  Linen Thread (104199); 3/4" Basic Black Chevron Ribbon (130010)

Tools: Gift Box Punch Board (135863); Note Tag Punch (135860); 1/16" Circle Handheld Punch (134363)

Stamp Sets:  Merry Everything (w: 135068; c: 135071)

Project #2 - Boo Ghoulish Greetings

This is such a fun card and a great way to feature Designer Series Paper especially when you don't have the Stamp Set you were HOPING and PLANNING to use!  I just have to say… I really do love this adorable card!

For this card, I used the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper as the focal point then using the Little Letters I cut out the "BOO" then placed a background behind the Motley Monsters for some nice contrast.  To quickly finish off the card, I add the tag which uses the Ghoulish Greetings Stamp Set topped off with a button and Tangerine Tango Baker's Twine.

It's totally amazing how you can create such a cute, Ghoulish card even when you don' have the stamp set you originally wanted!

Project #2 Supply List:

Ink:  Tangerine Tango (126946)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730); Tangerine Tango  (111349)

Designer Series Paper:  Motley Monsters DSP (135819)

Accessories:  Designer Buttons – Brights (130028); Tangerine Tango Baker's Twine (134578)

Tools:  Big Shot (113439); Little Letters Thinlits (133730); 1" Square Punch (124094)

Stamp Sets:  Ghoulish Greetings (w: 136663; c: 136664)

Paper Craft Crew #109 – Ray of Sunshine

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

It's a NEW Week with the Paper Craft Crew and we have another fun card sketch.  I had lots of fun with this weeks Card Sketch with lots of details.   We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, September 16 at 11:55 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew #109

A Ray of Sunshine

If you haven't guessed, I love all things related to the "sun" and "sunshine" thus my nickname!  When I was going through my Thyroid Cancer treatment, scrapbooking and stamping was one of the things I really enjoyed doing to keep me focused on anything but the Cancer.  Many of my friends gave me the nickname "Sunny" because of my disposition.  This card is really a reflection of me.

I love how the Gold paper shimmers and gives off some light and the "postage stamp" is just my 2 cents on how I feel.  Of course, I needed to make this card because of all the rain we had Monday and I was ready for some sun!

Here is this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #109!  I hope you come and play along.

Flower Patch Stamp Set

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 106 by Pam Staples #papercraftcrew #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps

I really love the way this card turned out!  The card sketch for this weeks challenge is lots of fun and a great way to feature Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper or a great stamp set.  The Paper Craft Crew Design Team has some really great and diverse samples this week.  Hey… Did you know that when you join my Stampin' Up! Team you are automatically welcome to JOIN the Paper Craft Crew Design Team (although you must ASK to join).

SunnyGirlScraps Tips & Tricks:

  • The angled background features the Gold Soiree SPECIALTY Designer Series Paper.  I really felt that this card sketch is perfect for highlighting the Designer Series Paper.
  • The Gold Soiree SPECIALTY Designer Series Paper Features a Metallic Gold Ink!  I absolutely LOVE the feel of this Specialty Designer Series Paper.
  • When stamping with the Flower Patch Stamp Set, place a piercing mat under the paper you are stamping on for a crisp, clean image.
  • Use the coordinating Flower Fair Framelits to cut out your flower image and then layer the designs for flowers with dimension.
  • The Flower Patch and Flower Fair Framlits can CURRENTLY be purchased as a bundle meaning you save 15% on the two products.  ALSO… Now is a GREAT time to buy a Big Shot with the Stampin' Up! Big Shot Promotion.
  • Use the 1" Square Punch for a quick, easy banner!
  • The Background is created using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set with Smoky Slate.
  • Consider creating a SQUARE card – yes, they are more expensive to mail – BUT, they are fun to make.
  • Don't forget to add the finishing touches to your card!  On my card, I used the Candy Dots to add a little accent in the upper left corner then one Candy Dot in the center of my card.

New Beginnings

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun projects.  The first project is a Clean and Simple Card featuring the Something for Baby Stamp Set and coordinating Framelits… You'll find that it is a fairly easy card to create but has a simple POP of Color that will just WOW your socks off!  For the second project, I decided to do a FUN 3D project featuring the Fry Box Bigz Die perfect for filling with treats for your childs NEW Teacher as we begin a new school year.

Project #1 –  Rubber Ducky New Beginnings Card

New Beginnings Baby Card by Pam Staples, SunnyGirlScraps

The card base is Whisper White cardstock layered with Tempting Turquoise and another layer of Whisper White Cardstock.  The rubber duckies were stamped using Daffodil Delight and then cut out with the coordinating Baby's First Framelits Dies.  Behind the Rubber Duckies, I stamped a background using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set with the Tempting Turquoise which sets the tone for the Rubber Ducks to be "floating" on water.  For the Banner in the upper Left corner, I used the Banner Banter Stamp Set using Smoky Slate  classic ink then it was punched out using the Banner Punch.  The final touches included adding the "bows" and the punched star to the banner.  The star was stamped using the Daffodil Delight and star image from the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set.

Project #1 Supply List:

Ink:  Smoky Slate (126981); Tempting Turquoise (126952); Daffodil Delight (126944)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730); Tempting Turquoise (102067)

Accessories:  Basic Gray Baker's Twine (134587)

Tools:  Big Shot (113439); Banner Punch (133519);  Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (133787); Baby's First Framelits (133735)

Stamp Sets:  Gorgeous Grunge (w: 130514; c: 130517); Pictogram Punches (w: 134261; 134264); Something for Baby (w: 134027; c: 134030)

Project #2 - Teacher Treat Fry Box

School Days Fry Box celebrating New Beginnings with the RemARKables created by Pam Staples, Sunnygirlscraps

How great would it be to have your son or daughter bring in a treat for their new teacher and telling them that "You Make the World a better Place?"  Can we say "Teacher's Pet?"   Well, it can at least help the New School year get started on the right foot.  The Fry Box is created using the Fry Box Bigz Die with Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock.  The stamped image is from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set using the Tangerine Tango Classic Ink and cut out using the coordinating Framelit.  To add a little extra detail but still keeping it simple, I tied the Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker's Twine around the Fry Box.  This is a QUICK, fun and great Teacher Gift for the new school year.  Now… I would normally use a Cello Bag filled with treats and tied with a cute bow but since I'm traveling I didn't bring those items with me so no treats to share at this time but here is a lake photo of Me holding my Son, Caleb, driving Grandpa's Pontoon boat for you to enjoy…

SUOC #103 – Geometric Shapes

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun with our theme being all about Geometric Shapes.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on August 23rd Midnight EST.

SUO Challenge #103

Geometric Shapes – Hexagon Hives Thinlit

SUOC 103 Geometric Shapes Challenge design team card created by Pam Staples #sunnygirlscraps #stampinup #hexagonhive

I've patiently been waiting to use the Hexagon Hive Thinlit for just the right card using a technique where you actually sponge the image then trace an outline with a Stampin' Marker.  This card was lots of fun to make especially as I used the Hexagon Hive thinlit in a non-traditional method.    The Honeycomb Hello stamp set provided the perfect touch for adding the sentiment along with a little whimsy with the bumble bee buzzing around the flower.

So, here are a few things to keep in mind…

SunnyGirlScraps Tips & Tricks:

  • Consider stretching your creativity by using a tool in new and creative ways such as what I did with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit.
  • Feel free to mix styles – Here I mixed "Vintage" with "Whimsical" for a fun card.
  • When shopping and purchasing Stampin' Up! products, keep in mind the "Bundled" items!  The Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and Hexagon Hive Thinlit can be purchased as a Bundle where you receive a 15% discount.
  • Sponge Daubers are great for keeping your hands clean and now Stampin' Up! sells them in smaller packs of 5!  Organizational tip – Label  each individual Sponge Dauber so you know what color you used.

Hope you enjoyed this installment of my SU! Only Challenge Design Team card featuring Geometric Shapes.  It would be totally awesome if you would take the time to PIN my card.  Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

SUOC #102 – Blendabilities and Favorite New Toys

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun as we feature our "Favorite New Toys."  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Saturday, August 9th @ 6 AM ET.

SUO Challenge #102

Favorite New Toys = Blendabilities

(and punch and striped scallop)

SUOC 102 featuring Favorite New Toys. Card created by Pam Staples, Sunny Girl Scraps and Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. #stampinup #blendabilities #sunnygirlscraps #pamstaples

Ah, yes, I just love the Blendabilities along with a few other great new toys such as the Fun Flower Punch and the Striped Scallop Thinlit.  One of my downline was hanging out and visiting me when I made this card.  She wanted to "See How I Work" when I make a card.  Admittedly, I felt the pressure.  Often when I make a card I have a "vision" in my mind of what I want to create and how I want it to look.  Now, the cards don't always turn out the way I originally visualized but that is just part of the creation process.

For this card, I started with a Whisper White Cardstock layered with Tempting Turquoise and another layer of Whisper White Cardstock.  The Striped Scallop pattern is also Tempting Turquoise that I cut down to the size that I wanted for my card and it is layered behind a stamped image using the Hardwood Stamp then cut out with an "old favorite" called Apothecary Accents Framelits.

The finishing touches were to add the two flowers which were stamped using the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set punched out with another favorite new tool called the Fun Flower Punch.  And… Of course, the flowers were colored with my #1 FAVORITE NEW TOY – Blendabiities - For this card, I used the Melon Mambo Blendabilities and the Calypso Coral Blendabilities both of which will be available on August 1st!

I love how fun this card is with bold colors using the totally AWESOME Blendabilities.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.   Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

PCCCS102 – #Hello Stamp Set

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Oh, I don't have a lot of time tonight but here is this weeks card I created for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #102 featuring the #Hello Stamp Set.  I can't say it enough, but I LOVE the NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog and this is another one of my favorite stamp sets especially as the 2" Circle Punch matches the stamp set.

SO… Enjoy and hopefully I'll have more time in a day or two to update this blog post.

SUOC #101- Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Welcome back for another challenge from the Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun with our theme being Bows, Bows, Bows.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on July 28, 2014.

SUO Challenge #101

Kinda Eclectic

SUOC101-Pam001

I really am in love with the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and for this card I paired it with another of my favorite stamp sets called Everything Elanor.  One of my favorite techniques is to stamp one image then overlap a few other stamps while stamping off the ink then I love to overlay various elements for a textured elemental look.  This weeks theme is about Bows, Bows & Bows so I really wanted my bow to be dramatic and a focal point of the card.  The Seam Binding is another of my favorite products and I just LOVE the new colors that are available especially this Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon.

SunnyGirlScraps Tips & Tricks:

  • Don't be afraid to expirement with Bold, Fun colors as seen in this card example.
  • A great way to create interest is to overlap stamped images.
  • Use the Seam Binding Ribbon for unique texture.  In this example, I crumpled up the Seam Binding Ribbon, wrapped it several times then attached the Antique Brad to create a multi-layered bow.

I think you'll enjoy this new format and find plenty of inspiration for our current theme –  Summer Fun!  So, welcome to the July 2014 Pinworthy Blog Tour with the RemARKables!

Pinworthy Blog Tour

Summer Fun

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun, Summer themed projects.  Summer is such a fun time spent with family and, for me, it means I'm usually going somewhere.  This year I'm planning a LONG Road-Trip to Minnesota to visit my family.  My son and I will be driving up to Northern Indiana to visit family then making our way to Minnesota for the month of August.  So, my first project is a card that is a reflection of my summer filled with traveling.  Summer also means "Fun, Bright Colors" so both my projects are a reflection of a BRIGHT color scheme.  The second project is a "Summer" banner for our home.  I just love the Canvas Banners and creating themed Home Decor.

Project #1 – Away We Go

Remarkables Pinworthy Blog Tour featuring Summer Fun projects. Handmade Card created by Pam Staples, SunnyGirlScraps.com, featuring the Around the World Stamp Set

The card base is Whisper White cardstock layered with Tempting Turquoise cardstock and another layer of Whisper White.  On the top layer of Whisper White, I stamped a background using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set using Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.  The Oval is the central focal point of my card and I started by using the Around The World stamp set by stamping the suitcase with Daffodil Delight then the Airplane image with Pumpkin Pie and the camera with Old Olive.  The stamped oval then was attached to the larger Pumpkin Pie oval which I also pierced with the Paper Piercer and Occasions Paper Piercing template.  Next, I attached the three little banners to the card, attached the Essentials Hardware Clip to the oval then layered the oval over the banners.  For this step, I used dimensionals to help the elements POP off the card front so there is some depth of field to the card.  The final touch was adding the "Away We Go" which was stamped in Tempting Turquoise then cut out using the Starburst Framelits.

Project #2 - Summer Fun Banner

Summer Fun Canvas Banner created by Pam Staples for the Remarkables Summer Fun Pinworthy Blog Tour.

This is such a FUN project!  I used the Build A Banner Simply Created Kit which features the 5" x 7" blank canvas paper pennants along with image stencils.  The colors I used are Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler and Tempting Turquoise classic ink to stencil either the stripe, polka dots or chevron image onto the canvas paper pennants.  Another fun feature are all the Pinwheels that I made for the banner.  I was originally thinking of doing flowers on the banner but I live in a household where I'm the only "human" girl and right now my son just LOVES Pinwheels so I thought they would be perfect.  The circles were cut out using my Circle Framelits with the Big Shot then for the "SUMMER" I used my NEW Perfect Print Alphabet Bigz Dies.  I love how the banner turned out and how bright it is as it goes over our fireplace mantel.

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers!

Blended Bloom In My Thoughts Card

PinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+TumblrDiggEmailShare

Today I'm sharing another card I created using the Blended Bloom Stamp Set that I colored with the Stampin' Blendabilities.  SO, I'm really addicted to the Stampin' Blendabilities and the beautiful color from the alcohol markers.  The colors I used – Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie – just explode with vitality and makes the Blended Bloom Stamp Set image POP!  I think you'll enjoy this fun card that I made using the Blended Bloom Stamp Set and don't forget to check out my Stampin' Blendabilities Basic Techniques Video if you haven't watched it yet.  You can find my video's on YouTube by clicking HERE!

Blended Bloom

You're In My Thoughts Card

Blended Bloom with Stampin' Blendabilities

As you look at the finished card, notice the contrast and how the blended blooms stand out.  The card base is Whisper White layered with Basic Black and then the colored Blended Bloom layer.  To simply finish off the card, I added the "flag" with a sentiment.  Simplelicity kept by only adding the sentiment while creating a very elegant card.

Quick Tip… TO create the "flag ends" on the sentiment, I use the 1" Square Punch!
