SQSC 22 Everyday Enchantment

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek

Everyday Enchantment Designer Series PaperThis week for the Stampin’ Queen’s Sketch Challenge 22, I’m featuring another sneak peek of Everyday Enchantment from the 2012 Sale-A-Bration brochure. The colors and patterns are just beautiful. I actually get a little sad thinking that Poppy Parade will be retiring in June after seeing this Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!

The moment I saw this weeks sketch for SQSC 22, I just knew what I was going to do and that I wanted to use the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. I just knew that the colors would work so well together with the Poppy Parade and Calypso Coral. If anything, my love for the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper will mean that I use up my Poppy Parade card stock before it retires at the end of June 2012.

I hope you find inspiration with this weeks sketch along with my Design Team sample. Besides using the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper, I stamped an image from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set then cut it out using the new Framelits Dies Labels Collection which I layered on Poppy Parade card stock. The “Just for You” from the Precious Butterflies Hostess Stamp Set found in the 2011 – 2012 Stampin’ Up! Catalog. The flower is from the Button Buddies Stamp Set.

SQSC 22 Sketch ChallengeThis is the sketch for SQSC 22! There are lots of wonderful inspiration by the other Design Team members on the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge blog, so take the time to visit the Stampin’ Queen’s Sketch Challenge blog. We love it when our stamping friends participate and post their wonderful creations!

Stampin’ Up! Apothecary Art and Framelits

So, yesterday I shared a Product Review with you introducing the new Stampin' Up! Framelits Dies and today I'm sharing a card I created which features the Framelits Labels Collection.  It is with much anticipation and excitement that I introduce you to the…

Apothecary Art Stamp Set

The Apothecary Art Stamp Set is new from the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  This card was made for the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge #20 on January 4th.  (I've been a slacker not posting my challenge cards in a timely matter or at all but my goal is to change that this year but with the start of the New Year, traveling and getting home followed by a mad dash to clean the house before my parents arrived, I didn't get around to writing my blog post.)  I really love the look of "White-on-White" cards and new that is what I really wanted to accomplish with this card.

Now, at this time, I don't have a need for a Wedding card but hopefully I will in the future.  To make this card, I dry embossed the background layer using the Finial Press Textured Embossing Folder which was layered on top of my Whisper White card base.  Then I layered a piece of Organza Ribbon tied with a knot.

Next, I stamped my chosen image from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and colored the flowers directly on the stamp with the Stampin' Write Markers using Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush and utilized the "huffing" technique or as I learned at the 2011 Stampin' Up! Convention to call it the "the Breathe of Life Technique."  The image along with a border were cut out when I used the Framelits Dies from the Labels Collection.  The banner was created using the Petal Cone Bigz L Die with the stamped sentiment from the new Loving Thoughts Stamp Set again found in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  Finally, all the pieces were layered together and placed on the card to create this elegant, Forever & Always card.

Tips and more from SunnyGirlScraps:

  • When creating a "white-on-white" card, texture helps create interest along with depth.
  • Use Dimensionals to help add additional depth to your layers.
  • A little bit of color really pops out and creates an elegant card especially with the white space surrounding the image.
  • Don't over embellish.
  • To color directly on a stamp, use "paint brush" tip of the Stampin' Write Markers.  After you are done coloring, gently "huff" then stamp your image.

Test Post

SO, I don't know what happened recently, but my feedburner feed started acting up and was no longer including the text of my post in the body of the email but only showing the title.  I discovered this has been going on since mid-November about the time I received an early Christmas present in the form of an iPad.  While adding an iPad app related to my WordPress blog, I think I changed a setting that was only sending a "summary" of my posts.  I've changed that setting back to Full Text ….

Which means that this is a TEST POST to see if it is now working…   Now to include a photo :)   This is a scrapbook page I created using My Digital Studio…  This was from Christmas 2010 while visiting South Bend, IN…  Unfortunately, this year we did not have any snow for Christmas and no Snow Fun for Caleb.

New Product Review – Framelits Die!

I'm really excited about some new products that Stampin' Up! has introduced in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  If you own a Big Shot or similar die cutting machine you may already be familiar with a similar product that has been on the market for a while starting with the letter "N!"  This new Stampin' Up! product comes with the Stampin' Up! guarantee of a quality product.  So, let me introduce you to the…

Framelits!

Framelits Dies Labels CollectionFramelits Dies Hearts CollectionTo the left, you'll see a sample of the two Framelits Dies currently available in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  There is the Hearts Collection (125599) and Labels Collection (125598) each individually priced at $26.95 and exclusive to Stampin' Up!  As described in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog, the Framelits Dies are "innovative, thin, wafer-like design."  So what makes these Framelits Dies unique?  The design of these Framelits mean "you see where you're placing the design before you cut!"  Another great feature of these Framelits Dies is that Stampin' Up! can create matching stamp sets.  For example, The Labels Collection of the Framelits Dies coordinates with the Apothecary Art stamp set.

When using the Framelits with a stamped image, you layer the appropriate sized Framelit over the stamped image then run it through the Big Shot.  Then you can "layer dies inside each other to cut frames for stamp images.  Cut single hearts or labels for accents or layering."  One rule of thumb that you should generally be followed is to use a single sheet of card stock or Designer Series Paper.  I have seen people create a card using 2 layers of card stock or Designer Series Paper, but you need to keep in mind the thickness of the cardstock and I personally would not have more than two light weight card stock layers to create a folded card in the shape of the Framelits Dies that you have used.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I share a card I created using the Labels Collection with the Apothecary Art Stamp Set.  I have to say that I'm in love with the Apothecary Art Stamp Set especially when paired with the Framelits Dies Labels Collection.  As I become more familiar with these products myself, I'm certain you'll see more of them here on my blog.

SQSC 21 Morning Cup & Sneak Peek

Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge # 21

Stampin' Up! Morning Cup Stamp Set

SQSC 21 Morning Cup Stamp SetWelcome to this weeks episode of the Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge with SQSC #21!  I'm really excited about this card using the Morning Cup Stamp Set.  A very dear family friend recently gave me a beautiful tea cup and saucer that matches another piece of the tea set she had previously given to me as a wedding gift.  This dear friend means the world to me and I can't wait to send her this card as a thank you for the tea cup set she sent me.

This card also provides another 2012 Sale-A-Bration sneak peek of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack which will be available from January 24 to March 31, 2012.  This 12 x12 Designer Series Paper is absolutely gorgeous!  I love the feel and vintage look.

To create the tag, I cut a length of cardstock and found the center point where I wanted to create the angle cuts and marked it with a pencil.  Then I measured 1 1/4" on each side then cut at an angle to the center point and afterwards cut the tip to create the tag.  The tea cups are from the Morning Cup Stamp Set.  To create the tall stack of tea cups I stamped the first three tea cups then stamped the image again to create a tall stack of tea cups. The tea cups are colored using the Stampin' Write Markers.

Perpetual Card Template

Perpetual Card Template

Yesterday I promised I would post the template for a Perpetual Card.  You'll find that I've loaded the template into my Scribd account and linked it here.  You should be able to download the Perpetual Card Template.  You'll want to note that when assembling the layers, you need to put about 2 – 1/2" strips of sticky tape on the "top layer" in each of the four corners. Then you place the bottom layer on the top layer to attach.  Flip over the assembled card base to see the front or "top layer" of the Perpetual Card.

SUOC 36 Perpetual Card Fun with Stampin’ Up!

Perpetual Card

Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge #36!  This challenge was to use a technique that was fairly new to you.  In this case, I've only "created" a Perpetual Card once and that was during a team meeting with my upline over a year ago.  While thinking about what techniques I could do for this challenge, the Perpetual Card technique came to mind then I found an article from last years Stampin' Success.  That article secured my desire to play with this technique.  It really helped that Stampin' Up! had a card template available for me to download from the demonstrator website.

Perpetual Card FrontSo, you say you don't know what a Perpetual Card is?  A perpetual card consists of special folds that when folded and unfolded is a "new" card each time offering a new surprise each time the card is unfolded.  So, on that note, enjoy my perpetual card.

Fold # 1 – The front of my card features the I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set along with the Tiny Tags Stamp Set along with the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper found in the new 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  The base of the Perpetual Card starts with Baja Breeze and the side panels are Pear Pizzazz dry embossed.  You need 2 pieces of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock.  You score the top layer (shown here) at 1 1/16" lengthwise.  Then you cut it in half at 2 3/4".

Fold # 2 – When you open the card to the second fold of the Perpetual Card, you see the following.  I used the Pink Piroutte cardstock stamped with a preview image from the 2012 Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration stamp set which will be available later this month. The sentiment features the Petite Pairs stamp set from the current Stampin' Up! Catalog.  In the upper right corner, I also included some tiny pearl jewels which is another product that is a favorite of mine.

 Perpetual Card Fold 2

Perpetual Card Fold 3Fold # 3 – The third fold of the Perpetual Card doesn't have a "stamped" feature other than some stamping on the side panels that flip out as part of the fold.  Instead, I included a punched element with ribbon along with more Twitterpated Designer Series Paper.  From the third fold, we are brought to the final fold.

Perpetual Card Fold 4Fold # 4 – This is the "back" page of the Perpetual Card.  On this fold, I again share a sneak peak of the Fresh Vintage 2012 Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  The sentiment is the second phrase to the Petite Pairs stamp set.

I'm really excited about how well this card turned out.  It did take some planning but that was really the hardest part.  My favorite feature is how I used the "friend" heart from I {Heart} Hearts along with the "Hello" from the Tiny Tags set and then paired those with the "so many smiles" and "begin with you" to create a fun message.  This will definitely be a fun card to send to a friend!

For those of you that are interested in receiving a template, I plan to post it later today or tomorrow but just have to figure out the best way to post it as a PDF.

A Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers, family and friends!  I pray you have a wonderful day spent with those you care about.  Take the time to share with other what you are thankful for in your life!

I am thankful for the Military Men and Women that serve so I am FREE to celebrate Thanksgiving!  I'm thankful for my husband and son – they are such a blessing in my life.  My family may be thousands of miles away, but I'm thankful that are as close as a phone call and I know I'll see them soon.

There is so much more that I'm thankful for but just don't have the words to fully express how I feel.

Finally, I'm thankful that Christ died on the Cross so that I may find true freedom in the cross.  May your Thanksgiving be bless!
