Giving Thanks

I definitely have some fun project to share with you this month.  These projects venture in a different direction than what I normally do and they really are great for the Season of Giving Thanks!  The first project is a Clean and Simple Card featuring the For All Things Stamp Set from the Holiday Catalog.  The next 2 projects go together as a Table Setting featuring a Table Placard and Napkin Ring.

Project #1 – Give Thanks Card

Give Thanks For All Things Handmade Card by Pam Staples. #stampinup #forallthings #pinworthy #greetingcard

The card base starts with Natural White Cardstock layered with Early Esspresso and a second layer of Natural White Cardstock which is stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink.  Next, I attached a piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon then attached the top layer stamped with the images from the For All Things Stamp Set.  For the finishing touches I added the Ribbon Bow with the Very Vintage Designer Button and Linen Thread along with the Give Thanks Banner.  The GIve Thanks is stamped using the And Many More Stamp Set.

If you are wondering, I created the Cherry Cobbler bow by just wrapping it around my fingers then taking the Linen Thread and tying it around the Seam Binding.  To help finish off the look, I add the button which helps hold it together nice and tight.  To attach this type of bow, I like to use the Glue Dots or the Tombow Multi Liquid Glue.  Here is a close-up angled view for a different perspective on the bow.

Project #2 – Give Thanks Place Setting Placard

1411-PWH v008

This second project is actually very simple and so quick to make!  I cut out the leaves using the Autumn Accents Bigz Die.  The background Crushed Curry Maple Leaf was then embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impression embossing folder.  The folded placard is also stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set with Cherry Cobbler Classic ink.  The cluster of leaves were then accented with the Venetian Crochet Trim, a piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Seam Binding Ribon and Linen Thread tied together with a Very Vintage Designer Button.  The final touch was adding the two banners – Giving Thanks and the Guests Name which was handwritten using a Project Life marker.

Project #3 – Give Thanks Napkin RIng Holder

Give Thanks Napkin Ring Holder by Pam Staples. #Stampinup #sunnygirlscraps #remarkables

The final project that I'm featuring today is a Napkin Ring Holder that I created using a piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock wrapped around part of a toilet paper tube then wrapped again with 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon then wrapped AGAIN with Linen Thread…  Lots of wrapping going on but I just love the look with the layers of texture!  Next, I created the cluster of leaves similar to what I did for the Place Setting Placard.  I also used the Very Vintage Designer Button again tied with a bow using the Linen Thread with a piece of the Venetian Crochet Trim added as an accent.  For the final touch, I added the Give Thanks banner but this time I added the Garden Green layer to the banner.

Here are both the Place Setting Placard with the Napkin Ring holder.  You'll see that they coordinate beautifully together.  I'm certain they'll look beautiful on my table at Thanksgiving even if it is only going to be a very small gathering this year!  My husband and 5 year old will probably not appreciate the extra touches I take to make Thanksgiving Special but I know I'll enjoy the look along with using my Fine China.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch

SoSocial Happy Birthday

SoSocial Handmade Birthday Card created for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 117 by Pam Staples

I'm so excited to be sharing this fun, bright Birthday Card with you as part of this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #117! The card base starts with Whisper White Card Stock layered with Daffodil Delight and another layer of Whisper White with Melon Mambo stamped background using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.  Following along with the Card Sketch, I added a small layer of the Brights Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stack using the Daffodil Delight.  Then I added a 1" strip of Tempting Turquoise with Melon Mambo 1/4" Cotton Ribbon.  The featured stamped image is the ampersand from the @SoSocial Stamp Set stamped with Melon Mambo Classic Ink then layered with a Bermuda Bay 2 3/8" Scallop Circle.   I then added the Melon Mambo Bow with a Daffodil Delight Flower with a Bermuda Bay button in the center which is placed over the banner stamped with teh #birthdaysrock image which is stamped using the Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink.

SunnyGirlScraps Tips & Tricks:

  • Accents help finish off cards and on this card I used some Daffodil Delight Candy Dots to create balance and interest.
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to help create depth.
  • When I use buttons, I pretty much always have to use linen thread or the baker's twine to "finish" the look of the button.
  • Use either the 1" square punch or banner punch to create the fish tail on the end of a banner.

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers!  Click here to also follow me on Pinterest.

SUOC #109 – From My Heart

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun with our theme being THANKS.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on November 15th at 6:00 AM ET.

SUO Challenge #109

From My Heart Thank You

Handmade card created by Pam Staples for the SU Only Challenge blog featuring the From My Heart Stamp Set

I really love the way this card turned out.  When I started planning the card I wasn't certain where it was going to go but I really liked the idea of pulling out an "old" stamp set when the From My Heart Stamp Set caught my eye.  The Crushed Curry image located under the "Thank You" is a stamped leaf and plant image from the For All Things Stamp Set.  The card base is Crushed Curry layered with Basic Black then Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper.  The larger banner is cut using the Banner Framelits from Elegant Eggplant card stock with a second Basic Black banner.  The images are offset towards the left side of the card.  The primary stamped image is cut out using the Window Frames Framelits.

SunnyGirlScraps Stampin' Tips:

  • To create the flower, I used the 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punch to punch out 4 scalloped circles which I then crumpled in my hand and layered to create the flower.
  • Add a button or brad to the center of your flowers for additional attention to detail or to create interesting accents.
  • Layer embellishments!  On this card, I layerd the Tea Lace Paper Doilies behind the Elegant Eggplant banner so it peeks out.
  • Distressing is another great way to add character!  The Elegant Eggplant banner is destressed using a distressing tool.

The colors are really lots of fun and bold.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.  (And I admit, this card keeps growing on me…)  Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

PCCCS116 – Endless Wishes Christmas

Another week and it's time for a new Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch!  This weeks card sketch is a fairly basic card sketch with a little embellishment.  The card I created is a beautiful, Endless Wishes Christmas Card.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on November 4th.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 116

Endless Wishes Christmas

Endless Wishes Christmas

This card features the Endless Wishes Stamp Set along with elements of the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies.  I've also pulled out some of my favorite colors with the Lost Lagoon and Pool Party along with using Naturals White.  For the card base, I started with Pool Party Cardstock then layered with Naturals White Cardstock with a stamped background using Lost Lagoon Classic Ink with the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.  On the focal layer, I stamped the "Very Merry Christmas" on the Naturals White Cardstock with a layer of Lost Lagoon Cardstock.  I highlighted the stamped image with the "Film Frame" from the On Film Framelits.

On the bottom right corner of the stamped "Very Merry Christmas" I added several elements as the finishing touches to the card.  First, I added two banners from the Hearts A Flutter Framelits then I added snowflakes from the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies layered above the banners.  For the final touch I added the "Joy" from the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies.

SunnyGirlScraps Tips & Tricks:

  • A great way to create depth is to use two coordinating colors such as what I did with the Lost Lagoon and Pool Party on this card!
  • Layers!  Layer elements to create interest and to highlight the focal point.
  • Angles – use angles to add additional interest.

The colors are subtle and beautiful for a Christmas Card.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.   Don't forget to visit the Paper Craft Crew Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

PCCCS 115: Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set

Welcome back for the Wednesday posting of the latest Paper Craft Crew Challenge!  I've go another fun card for you featuring the Stampin' Up! Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set.   We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 11:55 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 115

Kinda Eclectic Thank You

This weeks sketch with the Paper Craft Crew features a design I use often for scrapbooking but just sized down for a square shaped card!  My card this week deviates from a holiday themed card as I opted to use the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set along with Blackberry Bliss and Hellow Honey color scheme.  The card really did turn out gorgeous and I just love the richness of the colors together.

The card base is Whisper White Cardstock with a layer of Blackberry Bliss then another top layer of Whisper White and the Park Lane Designer Series Paper.  In the upper righthand corner of the Whisper White I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp the background with the Hello Honey Classic Ink.  Following along with the sketch, I added some Hello Honey 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon then I added the rectangles of Whisper White with Blackberry Bliss border which are angled to create a fun focal point.  The top rectangle is stamped with the "sun" image and leaf image from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set.  The butterflies are also from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set with the larger butterfly stamped with the Blackberry Bliss Classic ink and for the smaller butterfly I used the Hello Honey Classic Ink.  To "lighten" the color I used a technique called "Stamping Off."  Finally, I assembled the card based on the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch.

Sunny Girl Scraps Tips & Tricks:

  • A great way to create a stamped image that is lighter but coordinates with your card is to use the "Stamping Off" technique.  You ink your stamp then lightly stamp off some of the ink before stamping your image.
  • Create interest by adding elements such as multiple butterflies of different sizes
  • Stampin' Dimensionals are your best friend and great for adding depth to your cards.
  • Think outside the box when you see a sketch… Sometimes a great Scrapbooking Sketch can be used as inspiration for a card!
  • Missing something on your card or does your card feel incomplete? Originally, my card only had one large butterfly and one small butterfly but at the very end, I added the 2nd large butterfly in the top left corner.  It helped "balance" the card especially with the sentiment and other large butterfly otherwise the card felt "bottom heavy" with all the elements in the bottom left corner.

Here is the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew challenge.  To see additional samples, visit the Paper Craft Crew Blog and check out the samples created by the other members of the Design Team.  Now, why not join us and create a card based off of this weeks card sketch and post it to the blog!

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun with our theme being "The Treat's the Thing" theme.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on October 31st.

SUO Challenge #108

Curvy Keepsake ox

So, let me just say…  I don't know WHY I haven't used the Curvy Keepsake Box Framelit!  This box is so CUTE!  Absolutely adorable and so easy to make.     Every cute box must also feature a cute tag!

Sunny Girl Scraps Tips & Tricks:

  • To create the Curvy Keepsake Box you must cut 2 pieces from your cardstock then glue together at the base.
  • Use the Tag Topper Punches to create cute, coordinating tags.
  • Whenever possible, take advantage of the Bundled products offered by Stampin' Up! to save 15%.
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to create depth of field!

The colors are really lots of fun and very bold.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.  (And I admit, this card keeps growing on me…)  Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

Paper Craft Crew Card Challenge 114 – Festival of Trees

Guess what! It is time for another challenge with the Paper Craft Crew.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 11:55 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 114

Festival of Trees

This weeks sketch with the Paper Craft Crew is lots of fun featuring a "window" or polaroid type feature!  This weeks card features the Festival of Trees, Tree Punch and Star Framelits.  The card also uses the Work of Art stamp set to create a background.  With this card, I've created more of a traditional Christmas scene use traditional Christmas colors.

Sunny Girl Scraps Tips & Tricks:

  • To create the background, I used the Work of Art stamp set using Soft Sky Classic Ink then I used the Festival of Trees stamp set to stamp the "stars" using the Silver Encore Stamp Pad.  I love this look and how this sets the scene for an outdoorsy feel to the card.
  • The three larger stars were created using the Star Framelit.  To create the largest star with the center cut out, I just took the two star framelits that were closest in size and placed the smallest framelit on the inside to create the star outline.
  • For a little added interest, I used the Gold Foil paper for three of the stars then the Gold Glimmer cardstock for the star that anchors the Merry & Bright sentiment.  This sentiment comes from the Good Greetings Stamp Set which is currently FREE to hostesses that either purchase $300.00 or more in product or have a workshop that is over $300.  This special is available until October 28th – so, if you want the Good Greetings stamp set you need to order $300.00 in product yourself or get together with a few friends!

Pinworthy Blog Tour

Mingle All The Way with this Years Winter Holidays

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun projects featuring product from the 2014 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. There are two projects that I'll be sharing with you today as I feature a card and a coordinating gift box with a tag.  The card I created features the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper along with the Mingle All The Way Stamp Set.  The coordinating Gift Box and Tag also feature the All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper and Mingle All The Way Stamp Set.

Project #1 – Mingle All The Way Card

Mingle All The Way Card created by Pam Staples for the RemARKables Pinworthy Blog Tour.

This Mingle All The Way card continues my current crafting theme of using Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon and Basic Gray along with the All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I just LOVE Christmas Cards that have silver and blue on them.  When I look at this card, I think about the holidays and the cool days of Winter.

The card base on this card is Soft Sky layered with Basic Gray and Whisper White.  On the Whisper White layer, I stamped a background using Gorgeous Grunge and Lost Lagoon Classic Ink.  Then I created a layered accent using the All Is Calm Specialty DSP featuring the Silver Foil design with a layer of Soft Sky and a Tea Doily layered behind.  The Mingle All the Way is stamped with the Lost Lagoon Classic Ink and punched out using the 2" Circle punch then the layer is Lost Lagoon Cardstock cut out with the Circle Framelits then attached to the card front overlapping the Stamped background and Tea Doily.  Next, I added a little Lost Lagoon banner in the upper righthand corner with a Soft Sky star attached.  In the bottom lefthand corner, I added three stars as a counter-balance to the star placed on the Banner.  The final touch was adding the Silver Sequins which I randomly placed on the card front keeping in mind that I wanted to "connect" the Banner with the elements in the bottom lefthand corner.

I just LOVE how this card came together with the elements of Silver, Basic Gray and the two shades of BLUE!  A totally "cool" card perfect for the Winter Holidays!

Project #1 Supply List:

Project #2 – All Is Calm Box & Tag

Handmade Gift Box and Tag created by Pam Staples featuring the Box Punch Board

I just love this second project that I'm sharing today featuring the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Mingle All The Way Stamp Set.  Confession time… I'm totally in love with the All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper (as if you couldn't guess that already)!  For the Box, I used the Box Punch Board and created a 4" x 4" x 2 1/2" box. The Box Punch Board makes it SO easy to create AWESOME and Adhesive FREE Boxes!

On the tag, I've selected Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky as the primary colors with a touch of Silver from the Rhinestones.  The tag base is Lost Lagoon and to create the tag, I used the Scallop Tag Punch then layered a Tea Doily on the front of the tag.  The next layer features the Deco Label which is cut from Soft Sky then the Mingle All the Way stamped image punched out with the 2" Circle Punch is layered onto the Deco Label.  To complete the Tag, I added two snowflakes.  The Snowflakes are Whisper White and Lost Lagoon which were created using the Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies.  The Whisper White Snowflake was placed under the Deco Label and the smaller snowflake is placed on top of the Deco Label.  The rhinestones were placed last to add that touch of sparkle.

PCCCS 113 – Mingle All The Way

Guess what! It is time for another challenge with the Paper Craft Crew.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:55 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 113

Mingle All The Way

This weeks sketch with the Paper Craft Crew is lots of fun and a fairly quick sketch to work with!  The card that I created features the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set, Star Framelits

and All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I have to admit that I just love Christmas Cards that consist of a blue and silver color scheme.

Sunny Girl Scraps Tips & Tricks:

  • Layer complementing blues to create subtle contrast.  On this card, I started with a Card Base of Lost Lagoon with a top layer of Soft Sky then the All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper.  For additional contrast and to highlight the silver background, I pulled in the Basic Gray as a layer to the stamped image.
  • Create interest by adding elements such as multiple stars of different sizes, snowflakes and sequins.  Based on the sketch, I added the stars featuring two different sizes of the Star Framelits which are cut out from Soft Sky cardstock and layered on the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I added additional accents by randomly adding the sequins from the Frosted Sequins embellishments.

Here is the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew challenge.  To see additional samples, visit the Paper Craft Crew Blog and check out the samples created by the other members of the Design Team.  Now, why not join us and create a card based off of this weeks card sketch and post it to the blog!

Paper Craft Crew

Card Sketch #112

Endless Wishes

This weeks card for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #112 features the Endless Wishes Stamp Set along with the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper.  For the background, I stamped snowflakes on Whisper White then I used the Word Bubble Framelits to cut out various designs from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The Sentiment features the "Very Merry Christmas" pieced together from teh Endless Wishes Stamp Set.

I really love the way this festive, "cool" and wintery card turned out!  For the final touches, I added the snowflakes from teh Frosted Sequins embellishments along with Rhinestones.  The card base is Basic Gray with Soft Sky and Whisper White layers.
