Card Sketch #155

PCCCS155-Pam006

I'm back from the Inspire, Create, Share 2015 Stampin' Up! Convention.  I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to share the 2015 Holiday Catalog with you.  My pre-preorder has been placed but I won't see my goodies until I arrive in Minnesota where I'll be enjoying the month of August up at the lake with my son, Caleb, as we hang out with Grandma & Grandpa.

For this Paper Craft Crew Challenge, I've used the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and created this Happy Birthday Card.  I'm going to be giving this card to my husband although I'm about a week late – Oops!  Enjoy.

RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour – In Color Bundles

Welcome to this months RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour!  On the 2nd Thursday of each month starting at 8 PM EST, we feature a new theme.  We invite you to also check out our Pinterest Pages to see additional ideas so you definitely want to "Like" my Pinterest Page.

This months theme features the In Color Bundles!  So, welcome to the July 2015 RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour!

RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour

In Color Bundle

One of the best features of the Stampin' Up! Catalogs are the awesome bundles that we offer. The In Color Bundle is a great way to acquire ALL the In Color Stamp Pads along with an assortment of In Color Cardstock.  Just think about it… You get everything you need to get started with stamping with 5 awesome Stampin' Up! colors along with coordinating cardstock.  Did I mention that I just love Stampin' Up!

Project #1 – You've Got This In Color Background

1507Remarkables-Pam005

This elegant card features Tip Top Taupe as the base for the card front with Whisper White attached to the card front base.  I stamped a Tip Top Taupe background using the You've Got This Stamp Set then I added a Melon Mambo accent using the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set.  I also used Old Olive for the circular stamped embellishment behind the sentiment.

1507Remarkables-Pam002The Sentiment is stamped with Tip Top Taupe then cut out using the new Lots of Labels Framelits then bordered with the 1 3/8" Circular Punch using Blushing Bride cardstock.  I then added a piece of the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon in the background to help set off the sentiment.

For some finishing touches, I cut out some Melon Mambo Flowers using the Cutie Pie Thinlits.  Each flower is then embellished using a pearl.  I also added some little pearls randomly on the card front.

Project #2 – Garden in Bloom

1507Remarkables-Pam004

I just LOVE the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set!  This set just arrived and I was so excited to play with it and show off some of the NEW In-Colors.  The stem and leaves use the Cucumber Crush and the flower on this card is Watermelon Wonder.  The "Hello" features the Greetings Thinlits cut from Watermelon Wonder and the sentiment stamped under the Hello is also Watermelon Wonder.  In the background I added a little stamped background using the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set with the Cucumber Crush.

I just love the bright, cheerful colors of these 2015-2017 In Colors!  Pearl Embellishments finish off the card. Cucumber Crush is the base for the card front. This is just a fun, easy and whimsical card.

Project #3 – Garden In Bloom

1507Remarkables-Pam003

So, I couldn't stop with just one card using the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set.  This card really replicates the previous card but I stepped it up just a little by stamping two flowers.  The flowers feature the Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder In Colors with the stems stamped using the Cucumber Crush.  The card front base is the Cucumber Crush.

The sentiment is also from the Garden In Bloom Stamp Set and cut out using the Lots of Labels Framelits.  I used the new Essentials Paper Piercing Kit on the Lots of Labels tag.  For added interest, I wrapped some Linen Thread behind the tag.  The pearls are then added as the finishing touch!

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers!

Card Sketch #152 – Zoo Babies

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 152 Submission by Pam Staples. #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps #stampinup #zoobabiesI love this weeks sketch because of the simplicity that it allows.  The design card sketch really opens up lots of options and I know you'll have fun creating cards with this sketch.  Have I mentioned recently how much I love sketches?  In fact, I often start with an idea and create a sketch before I complete the card to make certain the idea I have in my head actually works as I've pictured it in my mind.

So, the card front starts with Basic Black layered with Whisper White and stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set (I MUST have stamp set!) with Memento Black and Tip Top Taupe Classic Ink.  Next, I added a strip of Tip Top Taupe cardstock layered with a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack.

PCCCS152-Pam004

I stamped the elephant from the Zoo Babies Stamp Set using Mint Macaron then attached that layer to Tip Top Taupe again and attached it to the card front.  The sentiment uses the Greeting Thinlets which I just LOVE.  As the finishing touch I used some Basic Black Candy Dots following along with the Card Sketch.

This card is just a great, general card that could easily be made into a baby card or kept for a friend that loves animals!

CYCI 77: The Wilderness Awaits

It's Sunday and you know what that means… I'm over at Can You Case It for the Weekly Challenge!   This week we have a great card sketch just waiting for you to play along.  Come on over and check out this weeks sketch as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends at Noon PST on Friday, July 10, 2015.

Can You Case It

Challenge #77

CYCI077-Pam001This week I'm featuring one of my new favorite Stamp Sets, The Wilderness Awaits.  I grew up in a family where we loved to travel especially out west and this stamp set just reminds me of some of our visits to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Mount Rushmore and so many other great adventures we had along with all the wonderful wildlife we had the opportunity to see.  I kept the card simple and quick to showcase the stamp set.

CYCI077-Pam004My card base is the NEW Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  The base layer is Crumb Cake cardstock then the Crumb Cake Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack is featured with the diagonal stripe design.  One of my favorite embellishments to use had got to be the Linen Thread which is perfect for masculine cards.  I stamped the fox image from The Wilderness Awaits stamp set.  The fox is cut out using the Oval Framelits then I added another oval with Crumb Cake.  For a little extra interest, I created a cluster of various ribbons then stapled the sentiment onto the card.

CYCI 75: Flower Patch

It's Sunday and you know what that means… I'm over at Can You Case It for the Weekly Card Challenge sharing a card featuring the Flower Patch Stamp Set!   Come on over and check out the sketch we have for you as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on Friday, June 26th @ Noon PST.

Can You Case It

Challenge #75 – Flower Patch

CYCI075-Pam004

CYCI075-Pam002

One of my closest cousins decided late last year that she wanted to run Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN this year.  I know she has done some other Marathon's but this is a "big" accomplishment.  Yesterday, June 20th, she ran and completed her 1st Grandma's Marathon.  It looks like it was a cool, rainy day.  Everyone in the family is very proud of Holly and her determination to improve her health as well as compete in a major Marathon (this is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon).  Congratulation Holly… You DESERVE to Celebrate and enjoy time relaxing at the lake in Nisswa, MN!

CYCI075-Pam008

The inspiration for this card is in part to Celebrate my cousin Holly's accomplishment.  This card is for her and I'll send it off closer to when I know she'll be getting home.  The Flower Patch Stamp Set is a fun, whimsical floral style stamp set.  I actually turned the sketch on it's side and used the File Tabs Edgelits to cut a tab out of the Sahara Sand Cardstock.  On the tab, I stamped the Celebrate from the And Many More Stamp Set using Early Espresso Classic Ink.  A piece of Cucumber Crush 1" Dotted Lace Trim was wrapped around the Sahara Sand cardstock.

Using the Flower Patch Stamp Set, I stamped each layer of the flower.  The bottom layer is stamped using Pink Pirouette Classic Ink.  For the next two layers of the flower I used Melon Mambo Classic ink then the center portion of the flower is stamped using Delightful Dijon.  So… confession time – I really do NOT like the Delightful Dijon but for some bizarre reason I've been using it a lot lately as a small add-on detail.  Dijon Delightful isn't all that bad when used sparingly.  OK… to finish off the flower, I stamped two leaves using the Cucumber Crush Classic Ink.  The Flower Patch flower is perfectly whimsical and fits perfect with the sketch.

PCCCS 149: Awesomely Artistic

It's Wednesday and you know what that means… I'm over at the Paper Craft Crew for the Weekly Card Sketch Challenge!   Come on over and check out this weeks sketch as well as the Desig Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on June 23rd at 11:55 PM EST when voting begins.  The voting will end on Monday, June 29th @ 8:00 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew

Card Sketch #149 – Awesomely Artistic

Handmade card by Pam Staples, Paper Craft Crew Design Team Member, featuring the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set.

Today was 101 degrees!

Unbearably HOT!

It isn't even officially summer yet and it is SO hot in North Carolina.  I'm so ready to head north to Minnesota to enjoy the Lake and visiting with family.  This will be the last year that Caleb and I go to Minnesota for the month of August (or at least that is what I'm figuring since school starts in mid-August).  In the meantime, my husband is LOVING these hot temperatures.

PCCCS149-Pam003One of the ways I "beat" the heat is to stay inside during the hottest part of the day and enjoy the glorious air conditioning in my Studio.  I also had some help yesterday (and today) in the form of 2 young girls and their brother.  Their mom was recently in a serious car accident and has a broken ankle so I went and picked them up to have a play date with my son.  Everyone had an awesome time…  The girls helped me make these awesome little Tortilla Pizza's for lunch then they played outside before the worst of the heat for about 30 minutes.  When they came inside, I pulled out a Paper Pumpkin Kit for the girls.  They each took turns making a few projects while the other sister helped entertain the boys.  My 5 year old son is smitten with the girls.

Since they were here, it also gave me a little more "quiet" time in my Studio… WooHoo! (and another reason why I volunteered to have them over again today!).

PCCCS149-Pam006This weeks Paper Craft Crew is another great sketch.  I felt that it needed a simpler, cleaner design and I just knew I wanted to use the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set.  The floral design sets the tone in the background featuring the Wild Wasabi then the "dots" are stamped with Delightful Dijon.  I used the Triple Banner Punch to create the 1" Delightful Dijon banner in the background.  My favorite style of ribbon… Wild Wasabi Seam Binding Ribbon is tied across the top.

The finishing touches included adding the sentiment which is from the Blessed By God Stamp Set and stamped using the Perfect Plum Classic Ink.  I then added the circular element which is stamped using the Wild Wasabi Ink then punched out with the 1" Circle Punch.

PCCCCS104-158-016

Stampin' Up! recently introduced a NEW, heavyweight Whisper White which is what I'm using for the Card Base – I LOVE it!  The completed stamped portion of the card front was attached to a piece of Delightful Dijon cardstock then attached to the Heavyweight Whisper White.

Here is this weeks Card Sketch with the Paper Craft Crew.  If you are having a mental creative block, card sketches are a great way to kickstart your creative juices.  Why not stop over at the Paper Craft Crew, create a card inspired by this weeks Card Sketch and post to the blog!

CYCI 74: Summer Fun Edition

It's Sunday and you know what that means… I'm over at Can You Case It for the Weekly Challenge!   Come on over and check out this weeks sketch as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on Friday, June 19th at NOON PST.

Can You Case It Summer Fun Edition Challenge. Card created by Design team member, Pam Staples. #cyci #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps

Come join along with the Can You Case It Summer Fun Challenge!  Create a card all about summer.  For my card, I've created a nice fence with the sun rising over the edge along with butterflies flitting about celebrating the glorious day.  This is the perfect challenge today as the weather here in North Carolina has officially hit the upper 90's with the heat index well into the 100's!  I'm honestly not a fan of this heat…  Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons with temperatures between the mid-60's up to low-80's!  The upper 90's probably wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't the high humidity factor as well.  I will say that as I loose weight the higher temperatures don't bother me as much.

Can You Case It Summer Fun Edition Challenge. Card created by Design team member, Pam Staples. #cyci #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscrapsThis weeks card is really bright, and cheerful display of summer!  The sun is bright and we are enjoying the long, full days of sunshine.  The card front features the sun from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set stamped with Crushed Curry.  For the fence, I used the hardwood stamp set stamped with the awesome new in-color, Tip Top Taupe, then sponged over it with Crumb Cake.  To create the appearance of fence posts you can easily use the corner of the square punch…  SO easy and a great technique.

Can You Case It Summer Fun Edition Challenge. Card created by Design team member, Pam Staples. #cyci #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps

Added touches include the Mint Macron 1" Dotted Lace Trim gathered in the background behind the sentiment which is also stamped with Mint Macron Classic Ink and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits.  The butterflies were stamped with Calypso Coral Classic Ink using the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set then punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Basic pearls add the finishing touch!

I may not enjoy the heat that comes with summer but I do love the time spent with family and all the adventures that we have.  The long days is another favorite thing about summer.  What do you love about summer?  Do you enjoy creating some fun family memories?

11205529_10206294372733624_7326279499102713600_nAs I mentioned, this weeks challenge is Summer Fun with the Can You Case It Blog.  If you are having a mental creative block, challenges are a great way to kick start your creative juices.  Why not stop over at Can You Case It and create a card inspired by this weeks challenge and post to the blog!

RemARKable Blog Tour: Going Places

Welcome to this months RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour!  On the 2nd Thursday of each month starting at 8 PM EST, we feature a new theme.  We invite you to also check out our Pinterest Pages to see additional ideas so you definitely want to "Like" my Pinterest Page.

This months theme is Going Places!  So, welcome to the June 2015 RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour!

RemARKable Stampers Blog Tour

Going Places

Starting with this RemARKable Blog Tour, we are going to be featuring the various BUNDLES found in the Stampin' Up! Catalog.  I'm sharing one of the NEW Project Life Bundles.  The Project Life Bundle includes a lot of awesomeness!  In this kit, you get the Card, the Accessories and matching Stamp Set for an additional 15% off.  So, come check it out.

My husband and I recently joined my son's Pre-School class for a field trip to a local Nursery for some Strawberry Picking…  We were definitely going places with all those 3, 4 and 5 year olds!  The field trip included a tour of the nursery ending with a fun time picking strawberries.  I wish I could say my son managed to eat more of his share of strawberries verses what we picked but he was really tired after the tour walking and going places around the Nursery.    It was a fun trip and it is awesome seeing all these little ones with their friends knowing that they will be growing up and going places as some move on to new schools next year.

I'm already nostalgic about these Project Life pages.  By the time your read this blog post, my son will have graduated from Pre-School.  Caleb has an IEP and has been attending a local preschool provided through the county as they provide Physical Therapy, Occupational and Speech Therapy.  When he started at the age of 3, he could barely walk (he had only been walking for about 5 months and still needed assistance standing up).  You see, Caleb has Hypotonia and other developmental delays.  Kids with Hypotonia often don't start walking until they are 2 years old or older.  He has come so far and it is exciting to see him going places as he gains confidence.

Now, here for your viewing enjoyment are my Project Life pages featuring the Moments Like These Card Collection, Accessory Pack and Stamp Set Bundle.

Remarkables1506-Pam003

Page #1 – This is the first page of Caleb's Field Trip.  The Field Trip banner features the Back to Basics Alphabet Stamp Set.  The hardest part is writing… I really don't like my own handwritting!

Remarkables1506-Pam002

Page #2 – I just added a few hand stamped embellishments.  The stamp set I used is the Project Life Moments Like These.  I don't have the coordinating Thinlits yet and can't wait to get them.  They will be perfect for the small accents I would like to add.

Remarkables1506-Pam001

Page #3 – I am leaving this page unembellished… Well, for the time being.  I might go back and add a few small accents but I haven't decided.

Page #4 – I have to admit that I am struggling some with Project Life.  I actually find traditional pages to be easier but maybe because I'm really picky.  In time I know my project life pages will be what I completely want them to be as it is a learning process. On that note… as I was finishing my pages, Caleb joined me and was having so much fun looking through the pictures.  I really need to make certain I add name tags or something that clearly states who everyone is in the photos.

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers!

Card Sketch #148

You've Got This Watercolor Peony created by Pam Staples for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 148. #stampinup #watercolor #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps

Oh, am I excited about this weeks Design Team card that I created for the Paper Craft Crew!  I've been holding off on using the You've Go This Stamp Set because I feel like I'm seeing so many ideas that are so similar.  I needed to find my own inner creativity with this stamp set.  My goal was something a little different.  Well, this weeks sketch was absolutely perfect!  This card is absolutely stunning with the white heat embossed watercolor peony.

I am totally in love with this card!  It was so much fun doing the watercolor on the peony which just happens to be my absolute favorite flower.

PCCCS147-Pam007

First, the basics:

  • Whisper White Card Base is cut for a 5×5 Square Card
  • The card front is Smoky Slate layered with Melon Mambo and Smoky Slate Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • You'll notice that I used the Decorative Dots Embossing folder on the Melon Mambo background layer.
  • I added the tiny banners stamped with Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry Ink using the Banner Banter Stamp Set then punched out with the Banner Punch.
  • The ribbon was attached and I tied a cute little bow!  This is Whisper White 1/4" Cotton Ribbon.
  • Add the top layer with the Watercolor Peony!

For the Watercolor Peony layer, I stamped the peony image using Versamark then heat embossed with Whisper White Embossing Powder.  This is similar to another watercolor technique.  To actually color the flower I used the Aqua Painters filled with water then took the Melon Mambo Classic Ink Pad and squeezed it so ink was on the cover.  As for coloring, I just pulled a little color and added to each section of the flower.  The more water I used the lighter the color and after each section was colored I went back and added more color to increase the intensity and darkness of various petals.  In the center, I used Crushed Curry using the same technique.  The flower stem is Garden Green.

For the finishing touches, I added the banner with the sentiment stamped in Melon Mambo with the stamp coming from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set.  Next, I added some Smoky Slate Candy Dots.

Here is this weeks Card Sketch with the Paper Craft Crew.  If you are having a mental creative block, card sketches are a great way to kickstart your creative juices.  Why not stop over at the Paper Craft Crew, create a card inspired by this weeks Card Sketch and post to the blog!
