SQSC 39! 2012-2013 Stampin’ Up! Catalog with Bright Blossoms

Another week and a new challenge with the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge has arrived.  This week I wanted to play with the Stampin' Up! fabrics.  The Summer Smooches fabric is new fabric that will be available on June 1, 2012 when the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog is available.  SO, for this week, I introduce you to my design team card…

Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge #39

Bright Blossoms with Summer Smooches

Bright Blossoms Stampin Up stamp setThis card originally started with a different vision but as I was playing with the fabric, I realized my "vision" just didn't work.  I ended up tearing strips of the Summer Smooches fabric and adhering them to the Tempting Turquoise Card Stock which is layered on Real Red Card stock.  I used the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set which will be available on June first to stamp the blossom images.  I then used the 1 3/4 circle punch to punch out the vase image with the sentiment and the 1" square punch to punch out the blossoms which are layered on Real Red punched using the 1 1/4" square punch.

The sentiment features the Petite Pairs Stamp Set.  I love this stamp set for the size of the sentiments which work great for "tight" spaces.  This is a fun, bright card which would hopefully cheer anyone up.  Enjoy!

SQSC #37 – Clearly For You Stampin’ Up! Retiring Stamp Sets

It is a new week and the start of a new Sketch Challenge for the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge.  Again, this week, I'm featuring a Stampin' Up! retiring stamp set.  This stamp set is called "Clearly For You."  Since Mother's Day is just around the corner, I made this a Mother's Day card.

Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge # 37

Clearly For You Mother's Day Card

This is a Retiring Stamp Set that I have not used all that often but really did like.  I started with Melon Mambo and used the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder.  The baker's twine is the Early Espresso wrapped around the card twice and tied with a bow.  I used the Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folder to create a frame for the stamped images.  Finally, the "mom" is stamped and punched out with the Oval Punch and layered with the Scallop Oval using Regal Rose.  The stamp set used for the sentiment is Family Reunion.  The little flowers are created using the itty bitty punch set and a pearl is placed in the center.

The sketch for this card from the Stampin' Queen's Sketch challenge is fairly simple and a great sketch for anyone to use from the beginner to the advanced stamper.   Here is this weeks sketch for the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge # 37!  Please click here to visit the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge Blog to participate.

SUOC #44 – Stampin’ Up! Elegant Bird Mother’s Day Card

Mother's Day!

Have you created a card for your mom?  If not, now is a great time to make a card then share it with the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge blog!  The new challenge celebrates Mom!

Stampin' Up! Only Challenge # 44

Elegant Bird Mother's Day Card

Elegant Bird Mother's Day CardAt first, I wasn't really certain about the Elegant Bird die for the Big Shot but after using the die I've discovered that it is a lot of fun and so elegant!  For this card, I used a new technique that I learned from them Stampin' Success Magazine that demonstrators receive.  The technique is called "Acrylic Distress".  I used White Acrylic paint on the Pear Pizzazz Card Stock and cut out the Elegant Bird with my Big Shot then embossed the elegant bird with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder.  To bring out the Pear Pizzazz Card Stock, I used sand paper to remove some of the acrylic paint creating a distressed Elegant Bird.

The basic assembly of the card consists of Pear Pizzazz as the card base.  I then used Twitterpatted Designer Series Paper on the bottom third of the card and Crumb Cake Ribbon Seam Binding which I gathered in the background.  The Elegant Bird is layered on the gathered ribbon.  The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White Card Stock then layered on Pear Pizzazz to create a flag.  The end of the flag was created using the 1 1/4" Square Punch.  Finally, the bow is created by wrapping the Crumb Cake Ribbon Seam Binding around my hand then gathering it together with an Antique Brad that was then layered on the bird and covers the edge of the flag.

SCSC 35 – Farewell to Awash With Flowers Retiring Stamp Set

A Fond Farewell to Awash with Flowers!

Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge # 35

I am truly sad to see that the Stampin' Up! Awash with Flowers stamp set is retiring and will no longer be available as of June 1, 2012!  Over the next few weeks as we get closer to the "Going, Going, Gone…" deadline, I will be focusing on sharing these stamp sets.  For this episode of the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge the Awash with Flowers stamp set was the perfect fit.  You may also notice that I've used another retiring stamp set for the sentiment called "short & sweet."

Retiring Stamp Set Awash With FlowersThe color focus for this card is Wisteria Wonder which is a 2011 – 2013 In Color.  As I assembled the card based on the sketch for SQSC #35, I started with a base of Whisper White and used the Adorning Accents Edgelit Die to create an elegant card edge which was then layered with Wisteria Wonder card stock and stamped on the left bottom corner with a sentiment from the retiring stamp set, Short & Sweet.  Layered on the Whisper White, I used the Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper and I, again, used the Adorning Accents Edgelit Die to match up the decorative border on the Whisper White.

I stamped the Awash with Flower stamp images on Whisper White.  The outline of the image is in Concord Crush with the overall flower fill color being Wisteria Wonder and the "stems" are stamped with Lucky Limeade.  The Whisper white is layered on Wisteria Wonder card stock.  Of course, every card needs some accessories and in this case, I started with the Wisteria Wonder ruffled ribbon tied with a bow.  Next, I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die and placed the largest of the embossed butterflies on the card.  The final touch, you'll note, is that I created a "body" for the butterfly using the Basic Pearls.

The sketch for this card from the Stampin' Queen's Sketch challenge was lots of fun and a great sketch for anyone to use from the beginner to the advanced stamper.  So, for this weeks sketch challenge, we are offering every participant the opportunity to win some BLOG CANDY!  With each card submitted, you'll receive one entry for the blog candy.  The blog candy is a free class from Cristena!  Here is this weeks sketch for the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge # 35!  Please click here or on the sketch image to visit the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge Blog to participate and be entered into the Blog Candy drawing.

Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge 43 – Rue Des Fleurs

Time again for another challenge with the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge blog!  The focus for this challenge is Last Spring Fling – Occasions Mini Catalog…  In just a couple of weeks, the 2012 Occasions Mini will be no more.  Some of the stamps sets MIGHT make it into the new 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog but there is no guarantee as to what and how many.  I'm excited to share with you the Rue Des Fleurs stamp set for this challenge!

Stampin' Up! Only Challenge 43 – Last Spring Fling with the Occasions Mini Catalog

Rue Des Fleurs Stamp Set

Stampin' Up! Rue Des Fleurs Stamp SetI hope you find inspiration in this card.  This stamp set has a wonderful, vintage feel.  I love vintage cards yet I was struggling at first as to how to use this stamp set.  Finally, I settled on one of my favorite images in the set along with making it into a "Thank You" card.  The background is dry embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which I "colored with Wisteria Wonder then further distressed using the Distressing Essentials Kit from Stampin' Up!

The next layers include Soft Suede card stock layered with First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I also used the Distressing Essentials Kit to "stain" the designer paper which was then torn along one edge and "rolled" to increase texture as well as a distressed, vintage appearance.  The image was stamped on Naturals Ivory then I distressed the edges using the Stampin' Up! Cutter kit along with the tea stain used to stain the card stock.

For the final touches, I used the Boho Blossoms Punch to created distressed flowers strategically placed in a triangular pattern to help pull the eye from one corner of the card to the next.  The "triangular" pattern is crucial in this instance because I used bright, contrasting flowers for additional intensity.  A triangular design helps keep the focus on the stamped image as well as the other elements of the card while creating a fun, bright contrast against the overall muted tones of the card..  I also love using the 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon to add interest along with the gathered look for the tales of the ribbon bow.  The Jewel – Pearls are the last of the details I placed on the card to create the finishing touch.

So, tell me what you think!  I really struggled at first but as the card came together I was enjoying the overall appearance and love the striking contrast of the Poppy Parade flowers against the muted tones of the overall card.

For additional inspiration, I encourage you to take the time and visit the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge blog to view all the submissions from the Design Team members!  We love seeing submissions to the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge blog and hope you take the time to participate in this challenge.  Have fun and share your creations!

Forever & Always Mojo Monday Card

I participate in a Monday Mailer with other North Carolina Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. Well, I’m actually a week behind sending out my first card but then I discovered that my Monday Mailer pal just celebrated a significant Wedding Anniversary. So, I decided to create an extra special card for her. Sharon is a wonderful lady and a fellow design team member with the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge blog.

Then I saw the sketch for Mojo Monday and I had my inspiration! So, welcome to my submission for this weeks Mojo Monday Card Sketch 236! Actually, this is the first time I’ve ever participated in a Mojo Monday sketch although I follow the blog and love the sketches.

Mojo Monday 236

20120410-174339.jpg

My focus for this card was texture while sticking to a White on White basis for the card. I started with the Whisper White card stock then created a background layer with another piece of Whisper White Card Stock embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next, based on the sketch, I took three 1″ strips of Whisper White card stock and used the following Textured Impressions Embossing Folders:

Stripes
Elegant Bouquet
Perfect Polka Dots

At the top of the card, I used 5/8″ Whisper White Organza Ribbon. Next, I used the Labels Collection Framelit Die along with an image from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set. The stamped color to help keep with a “light” tone is none other than Wisteria Wonder which is from the 2011-2013 In Color Stampin’ Up! Collection. I also colored the leaves on the stamped image with the Stampin’ Write Marker in Wild Wasabi. The stamped sentiment is from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder. To create the “flag” I used a square punch to create the flag ends.

The final touch was to add some tiny little punch flowers inset with pearls. I used a punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. There are two layers of the little flowers. The Jewel Basic Pearls anchor the center of each flower.

So, I hope you enjoy the card. If you get a chance, checkout the sketch on the Mojo Monday 236 or you can visit Mary Fish at Stampin’ Pretty to see her card and the sketch as well. Also, Mary, was the designer for this weeks sketch. I just have to mention that Mary is an absolutely wonderful person. I had the opportunity to meet with her June of last year when I was visiting my husbands family in Tucson, AZ. Having the opportunity to meet and chat with Mary ranks up there on the list of my highlights just under seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time. We chatted for nearly 3 hours before she had to leave and meet with the gentlemen installing her new cabinets into her craft space.

If you find inspiration from this card, please share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment. Also, don’t be afraid to pin it to Pinterest but I ask that you link back to this blog post! I love hearing from all my readers and also encourage you to share my blog with your friends – word of mouth is one of the greatest forms of flattery.

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad April Blog Hop: Spring, Flowers & Wedding!

Welcome to SunnyGirlScraps!

Welcome to this months Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring Spring, Flowers or Weddings.  I've opted to focus on Spring and Flowers.  I absolutely love Springtime with fresh new flowers, new life and the arrival of warmer weather.

If you've arrived from either Nikki's blog, Creations by Mommy, or Kim Ryden's blog, Stamping with Kim, I hope you enjoyed their projects.  The Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop theme for April is Spring, Flowers or Weddings.  The one key requirement is that we post a card and 3D project.  I hope you enjoy the projects that I've posted.  If you enjoy my projects, I would LOVE to hear from you and ask that you leave a comment and also feel free to pin these projects to Pinterest but just make certain to include a link to this blog post.  Finally, I encourage you to visit all the blogs on the blog hop.  So, on that note, welcome to the…

Stylin' Stampin' Squad April Blog Hop

Spring Flowers Project # 1

Summer Smooches Suite

The first project I"m featuring in today's blog hop actually includes three small Note Cards.  The note cards measure 3×3 and feature a floral pattern using a new stamp set which will be in the 2012 – 2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog called Bright Blossoms.  Each note card is based on Whisper White with Designer Series Paper from the Summer Smooches suite.  I love the bright colors as they speak of spring, fun and the beauty of bright flowers.  Each note card features a different "floral" design.  All the images are stamped on Whisper White which were colored using the Stampin' Up! Stampin' Write markers using the "huff" or "Breathe of Life" method to remoisten the ink.  I used teh 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch to create the background from Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  The Blue card has a yellow button daisy with a pearl in the center.  The yellow card has a Daffodil Delight Tulip and the red card has two little Real Red flowers.

Spring Flowers Envelope Box Project # 2

Mini Envelope Box Mini Envelope BoxThe second project is a special box I created to hold the three note cards.  I love the simplicity of this box and how easy it is to create it using the Diagonal Scoring Tool available as an accessory to the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.  As the base for this box, I used Daffodil Delight then layered the front of the box with a fun pattern from the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.  The scallop circle is punched out from Old Olive and the stamped image on Whisper White is from the Bright Blossoms stamp set.  The sentiment on the front comes from the Petite Pairs stamp set and is punched out with the Word Window punch.

On the back of the box, I created a flower from Real Red and Pacific Point card stock using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.  This flower actually serves a second purpose as the "latch" to keep the flap on the box closed.
