RemARKables Pinworthy Blog Tour – Flowers a Bloomin’

Welcome to this months Pinworthy Blog Tour with the RemARKables!  Each month we feature a new theme.  You'll be able to visit our Pinterest Pages to see additional ideas and more that we pin throughout the month so you'll want to make certain to "Like" my Pinterest Page and especially my "RemARKables Pinworthy" board.

I think you'll enjoy this new format and find plenty of inspiration for our current theme –  Flowers a Bloomin'!  So, welcome to the April 2014 Pinworthy Blog Tour with the RemARKables!

Pinworthy Blog Tour

Flowers A Bloomin'…  Flowers, Flowers, Flowers!

Spring is in the air and here in North Carolina, we are starting to see flowers in bloom not only in the craft room but also in the gardens.  My Phlox is looking beautiful with a pretty "strawberry slush" color but I'm still waiting for my Iris's to bloom.  In the meantime, I'm in the final stages of setting up my new craft room and found time this week for the flowers to also start blooming in my craft room!  For this month's Pinworthy Blog Tour we are featuring flowers and you'll find some beautiful floral creations I'm sure as you visit each blog.

Project #1 – Wonderful You Secret Garden Card

Handmade card featuring the Secret Garden Stamp Set with the Stain Glass Window effect created by Pam Staples, Sunny Girl Scraps.

I love the Stained Glass window effect created by using Vellum then coloring the back of the vellum with Stampin' Write Markers!  I originally made this card with my mom in mind.  The card base is Whisper White cardstock cut to create a 5×5 square card with the first layer being Blushing Bride Cardstock also layered with Blushing Bride Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks from the Subtles Collection.  I also added a small amount of contrast by using Calypso Coral Cardstock placed behind the Blushing Bride Color Collection Designer Series Paper then added 5/8" Organza Ribbon over the contrasting edge.  For the Stained Glass flowers, I heat embossed the stamped flowers from the Secret Garden Stamp Set using White Embossing Powder on Vellum. Next, I turned over the embossed flowers and used the following Stampin' Write Markers with a Blender Pen to create the Stained Glass Window Effect:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette and Tangerine Tango.  For the finishing touches, I added the banner stamped with a sentiment from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set, pearls to the center of each flower and added a bow with a Vintage Faceted Designer Button threaded with Linen Thread and also tied in a knot.

Project #1 Supply List:

Ink:  Calypso Coral Classic Ink (126983); Stampin' Write Markers (131264); 2013-2015 In Color Stampin' Write Markers (131260); Whisper White Craft Stampin' Ink Pad (101731)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730); Blushing Bride (131198); Calypso Coral (122925); White Vellum Cardstock (101856)

Designer Series Paper:  Subtles Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack (130135)

Accessories:  White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132); Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (127555); 5/8" Organza Ribbon (114319); Linen Thread (104199); Pearl Basic Jewels (119247)

Tools:  Big Shot (113439); Secret Garden Framelit (129372); 1" Square Punch (124094);

Stamp Sets:  Loving Thoughts (w: 128436; c: 125845); Secret Garden (w: 131940; c: 129144)

Project #2 - Lova Ya Handmade Card

Handmade Card featuring So Very Grateful Watercolor flowers created by Pam Staples, Sunny Girl Scraps.

So, I have to admit that this is probably one of my favorite cards that I've made recently.  My inspiration for the card comes from a Card Sketch posted on the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Blog where I'm a Design Team member.  I didn't actually participate in this challenge but loved the sketch and decided the So Very Grateful Stamp Set would be a perfect compliment to this sketch.  I just LOVE how it turned out!

The card base is Basic Black layered with Strawberry Slush cardstock.  Then I added a strip of the Whisper White Quatrefoil design printed Window Sheet from the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper.  To attach the window sheet, I cut it longer than the Strawberry Slush cardstock then scored the edges to tuck behind and it worked perfectly.  The next layer is Watercolor Paper stamped with Basic Black Classic ink using the So Very Grateful flower image then I used the Aqua Painters filled with water and just pulled a little bit of color from the Strawberry Slush Classic Ink Pad for the flowers and the Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink Pad for the leaves.   The water colored image was set aside to dry then layered on Basic Black cardstock. The banners along the bottom edge of the center feature the Language of Love Stamp Set banner stamped on Very Vanilla and cut out with the Banner Framelits.  The "Love Ya" sentiment comes from the Just Sayin' Stamp Set and is also cut out using the Word Bubbles Framelits.

On the right edge of the stamped image, I placed three Basic Black Candy Dots.  Then, for a final touch of flair, I added the Basic Black Designer Button on the left tied around a couple pieces of the 5/8" Crochet Trim Ribbon and the 3/8" Pear Pizzazz Taffeta Ribbon.

Project #2 Supply List:

Ink:  Basic Black Classic Ink (126980); Strawberry Slush (131178); Pear Pizzazz (131180)

Cardstock:  Basic Black (121045); Strawberry Slush (131295); Very Vanilla (101650); Watercolor Paper (122959)

Designer Series Paper:  Quatrefancy Specialty (130141)

Accessories:  Neutrals Designer Buttons (130031); Neutrals Candy Dots (130934); 5/8" Crochet Trim (118481); 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon – Pear Pizzazz (131208); Linen Thread (104199)

Tools:  Big Shot (113439); Banner Framelits (132173)); Word Bubbles Framelits (132968); Aqua Painters (103954)

Stamp Sets:  So Very Grateful (w: 133050; c: 133053); Language of Love (w: 133074; c:133077);  Just Sayin' (w: 133200; c: 133203)

Project #3 - Spiral Flower Origami Owl Box

Spiral Flower Rose Box created by Pam Staples, Sunny Girl Scraps.

This is a special little box that I made for my mom to hold her Mother's Day / Birthday Gift from all the Grandkids.  My Sister-In-Law and I received beautiful Origami Owl Lockets for Christmas from my mom then I recently hosted an Origami Owl Jewelry Bar and my mom bought herself a locket and charms.  Well, I was then at another party with the Spring / Summer Release of the Origami Owl products that just happened to have a few items that I KNEW my mom would love!  BUT, then I realized she had the wrong size locket and after talking to my Sister-in-Law, we decided getting her the larger locket and the charms would make a great gift from our two families. Which now brings me to this cute little box…  Yes, the Origami Owl items come in their own packaging but I wanted the packaging to be extra special.

I created this little box using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool so that it would coordinate with the Lova Ya Card previously featured.  The bottom of the box is Basic Black cardstock with a Strawberry Slush Cover.  In the middle of the Strawberry Slush cover, I used the smallest Floral Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a flower then created a window using the Whisper White Quatrefoil design printed Window Sheet from the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Next, I used the Spiral Flower Originals Die to create 2 larger roses with one rose being Strawberry Slush and the other rose is Blushing Bride.  Then I took the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch and made two smaller roses using the same colors of cardstock.  The leaves are from the Secret Garden Framelit collection and cut out using the Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  For the final touch, I added Pearl Jewels to the center of each flower.

Project #3 Supply List:

Cardstock Basic Black (121045); Strawberry Slush (131295), Pear Pizzazz (131201)

Designer Series Paper:  Quatrefancy Specialty (130141)

Accessories:  Pearl Basic Jewels (119247); Large Pearl Basic Jewels (125577)

Tools:  Big Shot (113439); 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch (119854), Spiral Flower Originals Die (129379); Secret Garden Framelit (129372); Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334);

PCCCS #88 – Eggstra Spectacular Easter Card

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from the Paper Craft Crew.  This week we bring you Card Sketch #88 with lots of great sample creations by the Paper Craft Crew Design Team.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, April 15th at 11:55 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #88

Eggstra Spectacular Easter Card

So, let me just say…  I love this time of year as we start to see signs of spring with flowers budding, grass turning green and temperatures start to climb.  Here in North Carolina, I've finally been able to wear shorts as I just LOVE shorts weather and anything above 65 is shorts weather for me being from Minnesota and all!  My card for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #88 is a reflection of springtime with the arrival of Easter.

Card Sketch #88 Eggstra Spectacular

The card base starts with Very Vanilla Cardstock cut to a square 5×5 card layered Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock and Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper.  Along the edge of the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper, I took a sponge dauber and used Baked Brown Sugar classic ink to sponge along the edge of the Designer Series Paper for a distressed look.  Next, I took two strips of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Chevron Embossing Folder and attached them to the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper.  The Tag was created, again, using the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper cut in a 2" strip and punched using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  I also used the sponging technique on the Tag and the background chevron embossed Very Vanilla Cardstock to give them a distressed appearance.

On the tag, I added the stamped image of the little lamb from the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set.  The little lamb is stamped using Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock then layered on a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock.  Next, I added the Coastal Cabana 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim to the tag and tied a bow around the trim using the Linen Thread.

The embellishments feature stamped images from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set stamped using Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar and Tangerine Tango classic ink then cut out using the Starburst Framelits Dies.  I used the Candy Dots to accent each of the starbursts.  The final touch was to add the arrow image from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set and cut out with the On Film Framelits Dies.

PCCCS 73-103-006-2The colors are really lots of fun and a wonderful reflection of springtime.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.  Now, don't forget to visit the Paper Craft Crew Blog and check out the design team member blogs and to help you get started with the sketch challenge, here is this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #88.

Eggstra Creative – Ideas for Easter!

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun cards and projects.  The first project is a Clean and Simple Tag A Bag Gift Box featuring product from the Stampin' Up! Pretty Packages line.  You'll find that it is a very easy box project to create that will just WOW your socks off!  For the second project, I feature a clustered technique often found on Scrapbook Pages but becoming more common on handmade cards.  The third card is a cute, whimsical card featuring the Fringe Scissors and Banner Punch.

Project #1 – Gorgeous Grunge Hoppy Easter

Gorgeous Grunge Eggstra Spectacular Card

The card base is Whisper White cardstock layered with Bermuda Bay Card Stock and the top layer is Whisper White stamped using the Off The Grid using Smoky Slate Classic Ink then I used the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to stamp several different images using Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Classic Ink.  The banners are stamped in Bermuda Bay using the Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast Stamp Set.  The arrow is stamped using the Peachy Keen Stamp Set and stamped with Island Indigo Classic Ink.  The bunny image is from the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog.

I confess that the base layer was prestamped for a card front swap but then my son had to take 20 years off my life when he managed to get into some of my craft supplies and drink some Stampin' Mist which meant a majority of my day was spent on the phone with Stampin' Up! and Poison Control.  Thankfully, he showed no symptoms and was actually asking for food along with eating just fine.  There was also a huge wet "soapy" spot on the floor so even though he told me he drank some I'm not 100% certain he did or more likely he found out it didn't taste all the good after having a "sip."

Project #1 Supply List:

Ink:  Smoky Slate (126981); Island Indigo ( 126986); Bermuda Bay (131171); Pool Party (126982)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730); Bermuda Bay (131197)

Tools:  Big Shot (113439); Banner Punch (133519); Extra-Large Oval Punch (119859); On Film Framelits (132969)

Stamp Sets:  Gorgeous Grunge (w: 130514; c: 130517); Eggstra Spectacular (w: 133068; c: 133071); Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast (w:  133551; c: 133554); Off The Grid (130736); Peachy Keen (w: 133110; c: 133113)

Project #2 -  Whimsical Hoppy Easter

Whimsical Eggstra Spectacular Handmade Card

This second card is fun and whimsical featuring four little bunny rabbits in a row watching the clouds and sun!  The card base is Whisper White layered with  Pistachio Pudding and a top layer of Whisper White card stock with clouds stamped using Soft Sky Classic Ink and the Create a Cupcake Stamp Set.  The bunny rabbits are stamped using the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set and to get the individual bunnies, I used a Stampin' Marker in Soft Suede to color only that portion of the stamp set.  The Sentiment in the bottom corner was also inked using the Strawberry Sluch Stampin' Marker.

I created the sun by stamping with So Saffron Classic Ink using the Chevron Oval image from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set then using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch I punched out a partial circle with the suns rays created from the Banner Punch. The grass is Pistachio Pudding card stock cut to a 1 1/2" strip and using the Fringe Scissors to create the appearance of grass.  To finish off the card, I attached and tied a bow using the Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon.

Project #2 Supply List:

Ink:  So Saffron (126957); Soft Sky (131181); Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker (131261); Strawberry Slush Stampin' Write Marker (131260)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730); Pistachio Pudding (131294)

Accessories:  Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon (130013)

Tools:  1 3/4" Circle Punch (119850); Banner Punch (133519); Fringe Scissors (133325); Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (101049)

Stamp Sets:  Eggstra Spectacular (w: 133068; c: 133071); Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast (w:  133551; c: 133554); Oh, Hello (w:131931; c: 130733); Create A Cupcake (w:128520; c: 121982)

Project #3 - Hey Peeps! Eggstra Spectacular Box

Eggstra Spectacular Tag A Bag Gift Box

Yummy Peeps peeking out the box

So, one of my absolute FAVORITE Easter Treats are PEEPS!  I'll even admit that I prefer they be a few days old… Yes, I prefer stale PEEPS.  The inspiration for this project actually comes from a Convention Make & Take.  I had the box in the Make & Take kit that I hadn't put together.  (Maybe I should mention that Convention was back in July 2013!!!)  I knew I wanted to put the Peeps in the box and then I decided to go ahead and use some of the supplies included in the Make & Take but add my own personal touches.

The Box starts with the Tag A Bag Gift Boxes.  Then I have a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock folded to fit over the top of the box like a cover.  Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I lined up the Eggstra Spectacular stamp set to be in the bottom right corner.  The Eggstra Spectacular image is stamped using Bermuda Bay for a tone-on-tone technique.

On the outside of the plastic cover, I stamped the banners using the Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast Stamp Set and punched out each little banner using the Banner Punch.  As a cute little touch, I added a small heart which I punched out of Blushing Bride card stock using the Owl Builder Punch.  For the finishing touch, I tied the Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon around the box and tied it with a bow.  Sweet, simple and a fun box perfect for Easter Treats!

Project #3 Supply List:

Ink:  Island Indigo ( 126986); Bermuda Bay (131171); Blushing Bride (131172)

Cardstock:  Whisper White (100730); Bermuda Bay (131197)

Accessories:  Tag a Bag Gift Boxes (130927); Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon (130013)

Tools:  Banner Punch (133519); Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (101049); Owl Builder Punch (118074)

Stamp Sets:  Eggstra Spectacular (w: 133068; c: 133071); Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast (w:  133551; c: 133554)

PCCCS #82 – Ombre Technique

It's time for another sketch with the Paper Craft Crew and I wanted to share this fun card I created using an Ombre technique.  I love how it turned out but at the moment, I can't remember how I did the Ombre effect…  Hmmm, I guess I need to re-figure how I did it so I'll be back with more details!

New Stamper Video: Basic Supplies for Stamping

I'm so excited (and a bit nervous) about this video that I'm sharing today as I go over the very basic supplies for stamping needed to get you started as a stamper.  This video is for someone just getting into stamping and paper crafts.  You see, I really do LOVE stamping and paper crafts so I want to share my passion with others and help the beginner or new crafter get started with the basic supplies to jump in to this fun activity.   This video is dedicated to my niece, Kamryn!  She was the one that asked for this video as a fairly new stamper…  Actually, she asked for a series of videos to help the new stamper get started so, yes, there are more videos in the works to help you with the basic supplies for stamping.

A little back history…  I've been scrapbooking and crafting with my nieces almost from the day they were born.  My earliest scrapbooks are all about my nieces, Kerrigan and Kamryn.  Whenever I would visit them we would try to visit a local scrapbooking store and craft together.  I've actually been working on this idea for a "New Stamper" series and plan to add more over time but this first "New Stamper" video was inspired by my youngest niece.  She has really been enjoying the Paper Pumpkin Subscription from Stampin' Up! and also enjoying my videos.  But, she has never really done a lot of stamping on her own without me being present and since we live about 800 miles apart I just can't go stamp with her whenever.  Kamryn is 14 and really does enjoy crafts.

If you haven't subscribed to my YouTube Channel, please go an subscribe today by clicking HERE!

PCCCS #81- Gifts of Kindness

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from the Paper Craft Crew. This week we are bringing you the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #81.  Did you know that I create all the Card Sketches for the Paper Craft Crew?  I really enjoy creating the sketches (and I DO have my favorites!) and I really enjoy seeing all the different cards people create based off of one card sketch.  So, we invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, February 25th at 11:55 PM EST.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #81

Gifts of Kindness Stamp Set

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 81 design team submission by Pam StaplesHave you ever used the Stampin' Up! Color Coach?  I don't use it that often but decided to pull it out and use it with this card sketch.  I'm so glad that I did and I just love the color combination.  I started with the Crisp Cantaloupe color then added Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede.

The card base starts with Whisper White Cardstock layered with Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and a layer of Designer Series Paper from the Sweet Sorbet which is a Sale-A-Bration item.  Next, I created a Soft Suede layer with Whisper White stamped with the floral image from the Gifts of Kindness Stamp Set which is also stamped with the Soft Suede Classic Ink.  Don't you just love the silhoutte image of the flower?

This sketch is fairly simple so as I looked at adding embellishments, I couldn't resist using the Essentials Wooden Elements stamped with the "Celebrate" sentiment from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set.  Then I added an arrow stamped using Pink Pirouette Classic Ink from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set and cut out using the On Film Framelits Dies.  The finishing touch was adding the button from the Subtles Designer Buttons tied with Silver Baker's Twine.

The colors are really lots of fun, subtle and perfect for this card sketch.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.  Don't forget to visit the Paper Craft Crew Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

Banners and Garlands

It is always fun to create your own home decor and that is one reason why I LOVE Banners & Garlands.  The first project I'm sharing with you features an indoor wreath that I have hanging on our front door decorating our entryway.  I love the Black and Cream with a pop of red as I celebrate Valentines but I've kept it neutral enough that it can stay up until I get my next project finished.  Now, I hope to add a few more projects but I live southeast of Raleigh, NC and as I write this blog post we are getting hit with the worst Snow / Ice storm since the last Snow / Ice storm hit in early 2000 (according to the news, I wasn't living in North Carolina for that storm.)  Anyway, I'm still working on the other projects but decided I needed to get something ready to post in case we loose power.  If you see that I don't have anything posted for Project #2 and Project #3, that means we lost power before I had a chance to finish, photograph and post the projects.

Project #1 – Heart Wreath featuring a Banner Blast

Heart Wreath featuring the Banner Blast Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration

I'm excited to be sharing this fun Valentine themed project featuring the Banner Blast Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration.   The project starts with a Heart Shaped Styrofoam wreath form.  I started by attaching Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon to the wreath form.  Next, using Modern Medley Designer Series Paper, I cut the 12 x 12 paper into 1/2" strips which I then curled using the Bone Folder tool.  After I had the paper curled, I used dressmaker pins to attach the curled strips to the Heart Shaped wreath form starting at the bottom point and moving around the form.

Then I created a banner using Cherry Cobbler Card stock cut to 1 1/4" strip and on each end I used the 1" square punch to create the banner.  On each of end of the banner, I also created a crease to create a raised center on the banner.  The next step was to stamp my garland banner using the Banner Blast Stamp Set which I punched out using the Banner Punch.  I used Linen Thread to attach each little banner together then attached the banner garland to the Cherry Cobbler banner with Stampin' Dimenstionals.

Project #1 Supply List:

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler (126966); Basic Black (126980)

Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler (119685); Very Vanilla (101650)

Accessories:  Linen Thread (104199); 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon – Cherry Cobbler (120992)

Tools:  Banner Punch (133519);  Stampin' Trimmer (126889); Bone Folder (102300); 1" Square Punch (124094)

Stamp Sets:  Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast (w:  133551; c: 133554)

Project #2 - Perfect Pennants

Perfect Pennants Sending Good Thoughts card.

Well, we've been "Pax-ified" here in Smithfield, NC with lots of Snow and Ice… and Snowmageddon2 isn't done with us yet!  I just keep telling myself spring will eventually arrive.  I love snow but really dislike the ICE and we have a good inch of ice on the ground as the sleet then rain caused some of the snow to melt and refreeze overnight.  We are expecting another round of Sleet to arrive in a couple of hours (it is currently 9:30 am as I write this) followed by anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of additional snow to top off all the sleet that has arrived.  So far, we have not lost power but lights did flicker last night.

The good news for us is that we are expecting the temperatures to climb into the 50's on Saturday then next week the forecast is calling for 60 degree weather which means this transplanted Minnesota Yankee will be pulling out her shorts!  Did you know that when I first arrived in North Carolina on February 14, 2006, the temperature was in the mid-70's and as my husband and I were house shopping, I wore shorts!  I really can't wait for the return of 60+ degree weather and pulling out my shorts and spring dresses.

So, as I keep my mind focused on the arrival of spring like temperatures I just had to create a card that conjured thoughts of flowers and butterflies.  With this card I feature the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set which coordinates with the Banners Framelits Dies.  I love that the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set and Banners Framelits coordinate and make it so easy to create a banner.

I started off with a card base of Basic Black cardstock which I then layered with Crisp Cantaloupe followed by a layer of the Sale-A-Bration Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper.  Next, I used the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set to stamp the sentament with Pool Party Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock which I cut out using the Banners Framelits.  Next, I created some layers of interest behind the banner by attaching a small piece of the Tea Lace Paper Doily then I took Pool Party Cardstock cut in a strip then cut with the Fringe Scissors to create a fringed border which was again layered behind the Tea Lace Doily and Banner.  The banner was then attached to the card front.

Scallop Circle FlowersFor the additional elements on the card, I created two flowers using the 7/8" scallop circle for the smaller Summer Starfruit flower and the 1 1/4" scallop circle punch for the larger Pool Party flower.  To create the flowers, punch out 4 or 5 scallop circles, crumple them in your hand and even rub them together then open each scallop and stack them together to create the flower.  I finished off both flowers by using the Candy Dots Brad Bases with a Candy Dot added to each flower.  Next, I stamped an image from the Notable Notions Stamp Set and punched out the image using the 1" Circle Punch.  I also stamped a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set and punched it out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch.

The finished card has the two flowers and circle elements placed in the upper left corner next to the banner.  I then placed the butterfly on the bottom right directly onto the banner.  For the finishing touch I added some small Basic Pearls to the butterfly.

SUOC #90 – Cherry Blossom Festival

Hey… It is time for another challenge with SU-Only Challenges.  The theme for Challenge #90 is Punch Parade.  I love that Stampin' Up! offers some awesome punches that coordinate beautifully with our Stamp Sets.  Now, I'll admit that I was a little intimidated by this challenge but not for the reasons you might think.  You see… before I created my card I happened to look at our Design Team photo album for this challenge and it just happened that another team member had posted this totally AMAZING Punch Art Pirate Card!  It is SO stinking cute…  Yep, no way I could compete with that so I decided to stick to something with a fresh, spring theme and as I created this card I couldn't help but think about the Cherry Blossom Festival held each year in Washington DC.  I hope you enjoy my "Cherry Blossom" card featuring some of the floral punches from Stampin' Up!

SUOC #90 - Punch Parade Theme

Cherry Blossom Festival

SUOC090-PJS001

I really enjoyed creating this card featuring a springtime theme as I started with a Whisper White card base then added another layer of Whisper White cardstock.  On the first layer, I used the script stamp from the Notable Notions Stamp Set and stamped the image with Summer Starfruit Classic Ink.  I then added to the background by using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set small dot image stamped with Basic Gray Classic Ink.  The sentiment features the Hello Lovely stamp from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and stamped using Melon Mambo Classic Ink.   The Hello Lovely image also coordinates with the Decorative Label Punch.  The larger flowers on the card feature the Flower Shop Stamp Set which coordinates with the Pansy Punch.  These flowers were stamped using Tangerine Tango Classic Ink.  The smaller flowers are stamped with Melon Mambo Classic Ink and features the Petite Petals Stamp Set which coordinates with the Petite Petals Punch found in the NEW 2014 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.

As I assembled my Cherry Blossom Festival themed card, I kept thinking about how the Cherry Blossoms look on the trees.  Then I imaginged how they look as they fall off the trees and float to the ground.  This image was the inspiration for my layout.  I placed the larger flowers next to the sentiment with one flower tucked behind.  Then I took the smaller flowers and imagined them floating down to the ground and placed them as if they were falling from the top left corner down to the bottom right corner.  Each flower was lovingly placed and tucked in around the Hello Lovely sentiment.  Oh, before I forget, I created a border around the Hello Lovely stamped sentiment using Tangerine Tango cardstock then I layered a small piece of doily behind the sentiment which was punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  Ok… back to the sweet Petite Petals!  The Petite Petals flowers were tucked in and around the larger flowers and the sentiment to create a whimsical cluster.  The final touch was adding the Pearl Jewels.

The colors are really lots of fun and very bold.  So, I hope you enjoy and PIN my card.  (And I admit, this card keeps growing on me…)  Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!
