Apple of My Eye

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #180

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge Design Team Submission by Pam Staples featuring Apple of My Eye #appleofmyeye #stampinup #pamstaples #papercraftcrewI have a fun, bright fruity card for you today featuring the Apple of My Eye Stamp Set.  This is a set that I receive from the Stampin’ Up! OnStage local event that I attended in Baltimore back in November 2015.  I’ve been meaning to use the Apple of My Eye Stamp Set for a while and the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch was the perfect fit.  This is a fun set.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge Design Team Submission by Pam Staples featuring Apple of My Eye #appleofmyeye #stampinup #pamstaples #papercraftcrew

The card I created for the Paper Craft Crew is a clean design based off the sketch.  I am using a 5×5 card base.  On the card front, I used a piece of the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  The top layer is whisper white layered on Crushed Curry card stock stamped with the leaves from the Apple of My Eye Stamp Set using the Cucumber Crush Classic Ink.  Small details are important to bringing a card together.  I used the Lots of Label Framelit to create a small detailed tag that sticks out featuring Bermuda Bay Classic Ink and attached a Bright Designer Button tied with Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine.  Next, I added a small strip of Cherry On Top Designer Washi Tape at the top of the card front layer.  Finally, I added the “lemon” that I stamped with Crushed Curry and stamped with the Thank You using Bermuda Bay classic ink.

What do you think?  Fun, Bright and cheerful?  Truly a great way to say Thank You!

Here is this weeks Card Sketch with the Paper Craft Crew.  If you are having a mental creative block, card sketches are a great way to kickstart your creative juices.  Why not stop over at the Paper Craft Crew, create a card inspired by this weeks Card Sketch and post to the blog!

SUOC #141- Sending Happy Birthday Wishes

Happy Birthday To You!  Happy Birthday To You!  Yes, you guessed it!  The Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge blog is celebrating with a theme of Happy Birthday. We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on February 12th at 6 AM EST.

SUO Challenge #141

Happy Birthday To You!

SUOC141-Pam002

So, I just have to share that my son absolutely LOVES celebrating birthday’s and especially singing the Happy Birthday song!  Actually, he doesn’t even need to be celebrating a birthday to sing the song.   Whenever I buy him Cupcakes as a treat, he insists that I add a candle so he can sing himself the Happy Birthday song then blow out the candle.  Caleb is 6 years old and I just LOVE how kids get so excited about birthdays.  I wish I had a video to share showing how his whole body shakes and how excited he gets.

As I type this and as this challenge goes live, my brother will be celebrating a Happy Birthday on Ground Hogs day.  As our resident Ground Hog, we always ask him if he saw his shadow on his birthday!  Of course, we hope his “happy birthday” involved gray sky and no shadows.  Caleb is certain to enjoy calling his uncle to sing him the Happy Birthday song!

SUOC141 Happy Birthday Design Team Submission by Pam Staples featuring the Sky Is The Limits Stamp Set for the SUOC Happy Birthday themed challenge . #happybirthdaycard #imbringingbirthdaysback #stampinup #pamstaples

So, here is my Happy Birthday themed card for this challenge!  This is the card that I’ve sent my brother (although it will be a little late – oops!) as part of the #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign started by Shannon West.  The background features the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder but I actually inked it up with Smoky Slate Classic Ink, inserted my Whisper White cardstock then closed the embossing folder and just pressed it together to get the inked impression.  I love the effect especially with the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

In the background I added two diagonally cut strips of Schoolhouse Designer Series Paper.  I stamped the compass image from the Going Global stamp set then punched it out using the coordinating 2″ Circle Punch then tucked it under the top layer.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is stamped on Whisper White using Basic Black Archival Ink and layered with Calypso Coral card stock.  As the finishing touch, I hand cut and added the Biplane from the Sky is the Limits Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set.

Don’t forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers – word of mouth is one of the greatest forms of flattery.

Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop with the NC Stampin’ Up! Demos

Welcome to the North Carolina Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop as we celebrate Sale-A-Bration!  This is our FIRST blog hop and we are excited!  You’ll want to mark your calendars for our future blog hops which will be the last day of each month.

Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

North Carolina Stampin' Up! Demos Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop submission by Pam Staples featuring Going Global #floweringfields #imbringingbirthdaysback #saleabration #bloghopI am so excited that you have joined us on the North Carolina Stampin’ Up! Demos Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop!  Sale-A-Bration is an amazing time of year with so many amazing FREE products and one of my favorite Stamp Sets has turned out to be the Flowering Fields Stamp Set.  Confession… When I first saw this stamp set I was SO unexcited about this set with no intentions of selecting it as one of my FREE Stamp Sets but then I had the opportunity to play with it at the North Carolina Quarterly meeting in early January and boy… did I fall HARD for the unforeseen BEAUTY of the Flowering Fields Stamp Set.  I’ve come to love this stamp set.

North Carolina Stampin' Up! Demos Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop submission by Pam Staples featuring Going Global #floweringfields #imbringingbirthdaysback #saleabration #bloghopThis stamp set is so easy to use!  I’m creating elegant, beautiful and simple cards quickly.  On this card I stamped the Flowering Field images with Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White Card Stock then colored each flower using a blender pen.  The colors I used on the flowers are Hello Honey, Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz then I used Lost Lagoon on the butterfly.  Before I forget, the card base is Lost Lagoon with a layer of Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper which perfectly compliments the Flowering Fields Stamp Set.  The card front with the colored images is also attached to Lost Lagoon card stock.  The finishing touch was the addition of the Happy Birthday banner.

North Carolina Stampin' Up! Demos Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop submission by Pam Staples featuring Going Global #floweringfields #imbringingbirthdaysback #saleabration #bloghopSo, about the Happy Birthday…  Let me tell you about a new Social Media Campaign started by a Stampin’ Up! employee.  Shannon West started the #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign encouraging people to MAIL birthday cards instead of just posting a birthday message on Facebook.  I LOVE this idea and confess that I’ve been known to just post a message instead of sending one of my MANY hoarded birthday cards perfectly tucked away in my craft room.  So, I have also pledged to send out birthday cards!  If you would like to receive a birthday card then post a comment on this blog post then email me or go to my Facebook page and message me your address along with your birth date so I can send you a card.

North Carolina Stampin' Up! Demos Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop submission by Pam Staples featuring Going Global #floweringfields #imbringingbirthdaysback #saleabration #bloghopNow… On to my second card for the NC Stampin’ Up! Demos Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop!  For this card, I’m using the Sky is the Limit Stamp Set.  I’ve mentioned in a previous post about how I took a Mixed Media class at the NC Demo Quarterly taught by Melissa.  This card features the Sunburst Die using the Golden Gel Medium.  I love the shine from the Gel Medium and how it looks like the Biplane is flying in the sky through the rays of the sun!  The card base is Thick Whisper White with a Tempting Turquoise card front layered with the mixed media layer.  I then created a Daffodil Delight banner layered with a whisper white layer.  The biplane is stamped with the Basic Black Archival Ink and hand cut.  I stamped the Happy Birthday on Smoky Slate  card stock.  The finishing touch is a Neutral Designer Button tied with Basic Black Baker’s Twine.

CYCI105: Going Global with a Color Challenge

Who loves color?  It’s time for Going Global with a color Challenge over at the Can You Case It? Challenge Blog for the Weekly Challenge!   Come on over and check out the color challenge as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on Friday, February 5th @ Noon PST.

Can You Case It

Color Challenge CYCI#105

CYCI105 Color Challenge Design Team Submission by Pam Staples featuring Going Global #goingglobal #colorchallenge #loveisintheair #valentine

Classic colors!  This week we have a great Color Challenge featuring classic Valentine Colors of Black, Red, White or Neutral colors.  For this challenge, I decided to use the Sky is the Limit Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set and Going Global Stamp Set.  I love the saying on the heart “You are My greatest Adventure.”  In May, my husband and I will be celebrating our 11th Wedding Anniversary…  This heart totally expresses the past 11 years together and the adventure we’ve been on.  I honestly can’t wait where this adventure will continue to take us together.

CYCI105 Color Challenge Design Team Submission by Pam Staples featuring Going Global #goingglobal #colorchallenge #loveisintheair #valentine

The card base is Basic Black layered with Crumb Cake and Whisper White card front.  I stamped the heart exhaust on the Whisper White and added Basic Black Designer Series Paper Stack from the Neutrals Collection.  Then I stamped the Going Global compass using Crumb Cake then punched it out with the 2″ Circle Punch.  The heart was stamped with Cherry Cobbler Ink then punched out with the Sweetheart Punch.  I also stamped the biplane from the Sky Is the Limit Stamp Set then cut it out.  Rhinestones added the perfect sparkle as the finishing touch to the card.

So… What do you think?  Are you on the ride of your life?  Celebrate valentines with those you love and let them know how they are part of your greatest adventure!

It’s Wednesday and I’m bringing you Bear Hugs over at the Paper Craft Crew for the Weekly Card Sketch Challenge!   Come on over and check out this weeks sketch as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11:55 pm EST.

Card Sketch #178 – Bear Hugs

Sending Bear Hugs for Paper Craft Crew Challenge 178 by Design Team Member Pam Staples. #pamstaples #stampinup #bearhugs

Do you need a bear hug?  Check out the adorable Bear Hugs Stamp Set from the 2016 Occasions Stampin’ Up! catalog.  These bears are just wanting to share some love with lots of bear hugs!

I stamped the bear with Chocolate Chip classic ink on Crumb Cake card stock then cut him out with the coordinating Bear Hugs Framelits Dies.  Of course, the bear needed a skirt so you knew it was a girl bear.  Yellow is one of my favorite colors especially Daffodil Delight so she is wearing a yellow skirt.  Then, since this is a Valentine, I have a box of “Love You” chocolates and a little flower.

Sending Bear Hugs for Paper Craft Crew Challenge 178 by Design Team Member Pam Staples. #pamstaples #stampinup #bearhugs

Sticking to the sketch, I added a Crumb Cake Banner and Old Olive Banner in the background behind my bear hug.  The background features the English Garden Designer Series Paper to help set the tone of the bear in the woods.  To finish the card I layered the card front on Old Olive card stock then attached it to a Thick Whisper White card base.

So Sweet Valentine design team card by Pam Staples for SUOC140. #stampinup #pamstaples #suoc #valentine

The You’re So Sweet Stamp Set works perfect for a quick, cute and fun So Sweet Valentine Card!  Stamped in the background with Real Red Classic ink are splotches using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I also stamped the circular shapes with Smoky Slate from the Timeless Textures Stamp Set which is definitely one of my NEW FAVORITES!  Layered over the stamped background is the heart from the You’re So Sweet Stamp Set cut out with the coordinating Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.

So Sweet Valentine design team card by Pam Staples for SUOC140. #stampinup #pamstaples #suoc #valentineBehind the heart, I added Silver Metallic Thread.  The black button tied with Basic Black Baker’s Twine finishes off the details on the heart.  Truly a So Sweet Valentine perfect for any Valentine in your life.  I finished the card front with the addition of Everyday Chic Designer Washi Tape.  The card front was attached to a piece fo Real Red card stock then attached to a Basic Black card base.

Layering stamped images is a great way to create dimension along with interest.  I love how the Gorgeous Grunge layered with the Timeless Textures create a beautiful focal background for the Heart that I cut out.  The “love” on the heart from the You’re So Sweet Stamp Set sets the perfect tone for the So Sweet Valentine Card.  Try it for yourself the next time you create a card.  This card may look complex but really is quick, simple and easy for anyone to case… BUT, remember, Stampin’ Dimensionals are your friend!  It is amazing how Stampin’ Dimensionals bring life and depth to ANY project you create.

Color Challenge CYCI#103

Timeless Textures Black & White Elegant Card

Timeless Textures Black & White card designed by Pam Staples for the Can You Case It? Challenge Blog. #cyci #pamstaples #stampinup #timelesstexturesWhen I think of Black & White, I think Elegance and Black Tie affairs!  Probably one of the reasons why I love formal nights when we go on cruises.  I love seeing my man dressed in Black Tie attire.  As we celebrate the 3rd Birthday of Can You Case It? I choose to go with a Black & White Elegant card.

Timeless Textures Black & White card designed by Pam Staples for the Can You Case It? Challenge Blog. #cyci #pamstaples #stampinup #timelesstexturesThe card front starts with a layer of Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack featuring the Basic Black Polka Dot pattern.  Then, using the Timeless Textures Stamp Set, I stamped the flourish design with Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White which is attached to the Designer Series Paper.  The sentiments are stamped using the Words of Truth Stamp Set featuring the “remember” and “it’s your day.”  The Remember sentiment is also layered on Basic Black cardstock.

For the “elegant” part of the challenge, I added a single Black flower created using the Pansy Punch and layered two of the punched flowers together.  In the center I added the Silver Basic Metal Button tied with Basic Black Baker’s Twine.  The finishing touch is the addition of the Whisper White Seam Binding bow attached to the card front then the flower was attached.

The card turned out just as I imagined with the elegant flower and bow.  It has almost a vintage feel.  I love it!

Sunny Fun Cards with Sunburst Sayings

I'm so excited to be sharing some fun projects.  All of my projects feature the Sunburst Sayings Bundle from the 2016 Stampin' Up! I'm all about anything "SUNNY" and instantly fell in love with this bundle.

Project #1 – Sunburst Sayings Wow

Sunburst Sayings Wow Card created by Pam Staples #sunburstsayings #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscrapsThis past weekend, I participated in a Shoebox Swap and this is the card that I brought.  The Sunburst Thinlits die was used to cut out the Crushed Curry for the main portion of my card front.  I stamped the "WOW" using Basic Black Archival Ink.  Just below the "wow" I used the black washi tape from the It's My Party Designer Washi Tape and the Bohemian Designer Washi Tape. The white banner is stamped using Bermuda Bay Classic Ink using a sentiment from the Sunburst Sayings Stamp Set.  To make the banner, I pulled out my trusty "banner punch."  I added the little Baker's Twine Combo Pack Mint Macaron Box as the final touch along with some Basic Rhinestones.  My background is Bermuda Bay.

Sunburst Sayings Wow Card created by Pam Staples #sunburstsayings #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscrapsSuper cute, fun and easy card!

There are so many options with the Sunburst Thinlits.  You can cut then attach the sunburst and create templates for sponging, spritzing or mixed media.

Project #2 – Mixed Media Sunburst Sayings

Sunburst Sayings Shine Card created by Pam Staples #sunburstsayings #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscrapsConfession time… I'm TOTALLY in love with using Mixed Media on cards after I took a class this weekend on using Mixed Media such as a Gel Medium.  This led me to create a template using the Sunburst Thinlits.  On this card, I created my template then used Daffodil Delight Classic Ink mixed in with the Gel Medium.  The Gel Medium was then spread across the template filling in the negative space then I pulled off the template – you have to do this FAST I discovered or it can dry then tear when you lift the template off.  Once I was done with adding the Gel Medium I set it aside to dry.

Sunburst Sayings Shine Card created by Pam Staples #sunburstsayings #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscrapsI stamped the Shine on Whisper White cardstock with Melon Mambo Classic Ink.  The shine was then punched out with the 2" Circle Punch and attached to a scallop circle punched from Mint Macaron cardstock.  The "It's Your Day" is stamped with Mint Macaron Classic Ink.  To cover a little "oops" with the Gel Medium, I applied Washi Tape to the bottom right of the card.  The flowers are punched out from Melon Mambo cardstock using the Petite Petals Punch and Itty Bitty Punch then attached to the cardfront to cover any little "messes."  The final touch was the addition of the Pearl Basics.

The gel medium is lots of fun to use and the effect with the texture is amazing.  If you haven't played with Mixed Media before, give it a try!
