SUOC #115 – Valentine Card

Guess what! It is time for another challenge from Stampin' Up! Only Challenges. The new challenge is lots of fun with our theme being Valentine.  We invite you to come play along as this challenge starts today and ends on February 7, 2015.

SUO Challenge #115

Valentine Card

SUOC115-Pam005

One of the Valentine Traditions that I started with my husband involves me making about a 1/2 dozen or so of Valentine Cards then I give them ALL to my husband for him to pick out for the Valentine Card he gives me.  My husband isn't very romantic nor is he a "wordy" guy but we do have fun with this little tradition that has now been going on for 5 years – 1/2 of the number of years we've been married.  I'm seriously thinking this card is going to be going into that pile although I might keep it as the card I give to him…  Decisions! Decisions!

I actually have NO STAMPING on this card well, except for the inside!  The card base is Real Red cardstock with the card front featuring Whisper White cardstock layered on Basic Black and attached to the card base.  Inside the card, I did add Whisper White with the stamped sentiment "Be Mine" from the You Plus Me Stamp Set.

The card front features the "I {heart} U" cutout from the Label Card Thinlits with 6 of them in a row alternating between Real Red and a pattern from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  Next, I cut out the ampersand and arrow from teh Label Card Thinlits using Basic Black and layered them over the "I {heart} U."  For the finishing touch, I added the Rhinestone Jewel on one of the hearts.

Now, don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

If you really love this card, I invite you to PIN it to Pinterests and share it with others.  Feel free to also share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers – word of mouth is one of the greatest forms of flattery.

PP228 and HSS203 – Hello You Thinlits

It's Friday!  WooHoo…  Tonight is my Craft Club meeting and I have a busy day ahead as I get ready for next weeks Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference.  I'm very excited for Leadership as I work to increase my business.  It is a great opportunity to focus on my business, learn what other people are doing as well as learn more about the products that we sell.

Today, I actually have a card for you that I've made for two different challenges.  Both challenges were a lot of fun and really complimented each other.  I think you'll enjoy todays card as it features the Hello You Thinlits along with the Crazy About You Stamp Set.

The Paper Players Challenge 228 "PP228"

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge 203 "HSS203)

Hello You Thinlits

Handmade card by Pam Staples featuring the Hello You Thinlits and Crazy About You Stamp Set. #sunnygirlscraps #pamstaples #stampinup #pp228 #HSS203The card is a Clean and Simple design featuring Basic Black, Melon Mambo and Whisper White.  I started with a card base of Whisper White then a layer of Basic Black with a top layer of Whisper White.  The focal point is the "Happy" which is part of the You Make Me Happy sentiment on the front of the card.  I kept he majority of the card in Black and White with ONLY the "Happy" being Melon Mambo.  The "Happy" is cut out using the Hello You Thinlits.

Handmade card by Pam Staples featuring the Hello You Thinlits and Crazy About You Stamp Set. #sunnygirlscraps #pamstaples #stampinup #pp228 #HSS203

The "You Make Me" portion of the sentiment is stamped with Memento Black on Whisper White then cut and made into a banner with a strip of Basic Black card stock layered behind.  Now, I did include a little extra detail by adding the two feathers stamped with Memento Black ink then cut out using the Feathers Framelits.  Then I added a Black Designer Button tied with a Basic Black Baker's Twine bow.

pp228The first challenge is The Paper Players Clean and Simple Sentiment Only Challenge.  I really found this to be a fascinating idea for a challenge where the primary focus is the sentiment but that the card is also Clean and Simple.  It sounded like a fun challenge and I think my card fits the criteria nicely.  Here is the link to PP228 where you can checkout the design team submissions.

HSS Challenge Logos-005For the next challenge, I found a great color challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge Blog.  This is HSS203.  Here is the link where you can visit the blog and see all the great submissions and design team cards.

PPA237 – Bravo

Today was a wonderful day!  Caleb was back in school after having 3 days off and mommy admits that she was very giddy to be dropping him off for the day especially after we had a rough day on Wednesday – I can only play with Remote Control Dusty for so long!  AND… Try telling a 5 year old that Remote Control Dusty needs a break or his motor will burn out and mommy cannot work her "magic" repairing a burnt out motor (nor can Grandpa work his magic as the resident aircraft mechanic!).  I really did enjoy a quiet, peaceful and productive day.

One of my goals for the day was to create a card using the Card Sketch from the Pals Paper Arts Challenge Blog.  The sketch is a fairly simple sketch but can you believe I had no idea initially what I was going to make!  But as I looked at the sketch, I decided it was the perfect sketch for focusing on a "Sentiment."  Looking over my Stamp Set STASH, I found the perfect stamp set to use and it is….

Pals Paper Arts Card Sketch 237

PPA237 – Bravo

Handmade Card created by Pam Staples featuring the Stampin' Up! Bravo Stamp Set for the PPA237 card sketch. #ppa237 #palspaperarts #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps #stampinup

I've had the Bravo Stamp Set hanging out with all the other stamps in my Stamp Set Stash just begging to be used.  Today, my wish was granted.  The card is fun, bright and cheerful; perfect way to say congratulations.  The star on the card is a little extra embellishment not included on the sketch but I really needed a little extra to help offset and highlight the Arrows.

First, to start things off, I actually turned the sketch on it's side! The card base is Whisper White layered with Pacific Point card stock and Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper (did you know the "dots" pattern is on the backside of the MOST gorgeous Designer Series Paper ever!  It was SOOO hard to cut up that paper then use the backside).   The "Congratulations" is stamped on Whisper White using the Pacific Point Classic Ink and attached to a layer of Daffodil Delight.

Handmade Card created by Pam Staples featuring the Stampin' Up! Bravo Stamp Set for the PPA237 card sketch. #ppa237 #palspaperarts #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps #stampinup

For the finishing touches and following along with the card sketch, I knew that I would use the little arrows from the Label Card Thinlit set.  When I first applied them to the card I felt something was missing then a light bulb went off and I KNEW it needed a star under one of the arrows.  Next, I added just a little pop of dazzle with the Rhinestone Jewels – I claim creative license on that addition.

Card Sketch #128 – Kind Koala

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 128 Design Team card created by Pam Staples. #stampinup #papercraftcrew #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps

We have another great card sketch for you this week over at the Paper Craft Crew featuring a great, traditional style sketch with just a few small changes.  Since the primary stamped area of the sketch features a "long, narrow rectangle" I pulled out one of the cutest stamps ever and a personal favorite, Kind Koala!  This little guy is just adorable…  He brings back some awesome memories from my childhood.  When I was 16, we visited friends in San Diego, CA and visited the San Diego Zoo which has an awesome Koala Exhibit.  I've just loved Koala's ever since that trip and is easily one of my favorite wild animals.

So… for this cute card, I started by stamping the Koala with Memento Tuxedo Black then colored the Koala with the Crumb Cake Blendabilities and the flower with Melon Mambo Blendabilities.  The stamped image was then attached to a Daffodil Delight layer of Cardstock.  I used the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper layered on Daffodil Delight and Rose Red.  The ribbon accent is Wild Wasabi Seam Binding Ribbon.  To finish off the card, I used the Itty Bitty Accents Flower Punch then added a Rhinestone Jewel to the center of each flower.  The colors are fun, bright and so cheerful.

CCMC338 – Hey, Valentine

The past 2 weeks have actually been pretty crazy for me with my 5 year old son, Caleb, first being sick last week with stomach issues related to food allergies then this week there was no school on Monday for Martin Luther King Day added to that no school on Tuesday and Wednesday for Teacher Workshops day.  I've been feeling cooped up so today we met daddy for lunch then went to check out our soon-to-be new church building!  It was fun checking out the new location and seeing all the work that still needs to be done before our first church service on February 1st – although I'm going to miss the first service at the new location since I'm going to be in Orlando, Florida for the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference.  Anyway… I've been squeezing in time in the office / craft room when Caleb has been playing by himself or has sent me to "my room!"  For once, I don't mind being sent "to my room."

Even with the crazy two weeks and working towards better organization, my goal to participate in more challenges and post at least 5 days a week is starting to happen.  I'm finding that it really does come down to being better organized so that I can take a mid-day break to play with my son and also meet my husband for lunch.  With all that going on, I decided to take on the Create with Connie & Mary Color Challenge "CCMC338."

If you are not familiar with a Color Challenge, they can be lots of fun.  For the CCMC338 Color Challenge there are three colors that needed to be used on your completed card.  If you would like to visit the

Create with Connie and Mary blog, click on the image below.  Here are the three colors:

CCMC338 Color Challenge. Card created by Pam Staples, Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator. #sunnygirlscraps #pamstaples #stampinup #ccmcThese three colors are absolutely gorgeous together and I couldn't wait to play along!  I started by selecting the Hey, Valentine Stamp Set and stamped the cute Fishy Image on Whisper White Cardstock then colored the fish using the Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Blendabilities.  If I could have, I would have also colored the fish with Crushed Curry but Stampin' Up! doesn't have Blendabilities in that color.  Now, I did use a little bit of the Smoky Slate for the Hat and little book which I hope is OK.  After I finished coloring the fish, I attached the Whisper White to a Bermuda Bay background.

CCMC338 Color Challenge. Card created by Pam Staples, Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator. #sunnygirlscraps #pamstaples #stampinup #ccmcThe first base layer of the card is Crushed Curry with a layer of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper with the Crushed Curry design which is a free item you can earn during Sale-A-Bration.   Next, I took another strip of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper with a Calypso Coral pattern and attached it to the card front at an angle.  Now I attached the stamped and colored image to the card.  For a little embellishment, I stamped a Crushed Curry hexagon image using the Six-Sided Sampler then added a little banner stamped with Bermuda Bay and topped it off with a Calypso Coral button.

If I don't say so myself, this is a really cute little card!  I love the colors and the little fishy characters are so cheerful.  The embellishments also helped to just finish off this card.  This card was actually pretty quick and easy to put together.

Mojo Monday 381 – Wood You Be Mine?

It is Monday which means the Mojo Monday Blog Challenge has a new Sketch for the week!  When I saw the sketch, I really wasn't certain about the sketch as I wasn't initially inspired but decided to take a look at my stamp sets.  While trying to come up with ideas, the Wood You Be Mine Stamp Set caught my eye.  I honestly didn't know if the sketch would really work with this set but I've been wanting to use the set for a while.  The Wood You Be Mine Stamp Set is SO much fun and ended up being perfect for Mojo Monday 381!

Mojo Monday 381

Wood You Be Mine

Mojo Monday 381 Wood You Be Mine card created by Pam Staples. #sunnygirlscraps #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps #mojomondayThe main focal point of the sketch is a circular sketch.  I considered using a different shape but decided to stick with the circle when I discovered I could cut the Lumberjack from the Wood You Be Mine Stamp Set with a Circular Framelit.  I think it is cool how you can layer the "shirt" color over the Lumberjack to get a plaid shirt design.  I used Night of Navy but stamped off some color before stamping the shirt color to give it more of a "worn" Lumberjack appearance.  The pants I colored with the Crumb Cake Blendabilities and for the skin I used the Skin Tone Assortment.  On the Lumberjacks hat I used the Night of Navy Blendabilities.  Did you know that Stampin' Up! is offering Blendabilities FREE?  Purchase $50.00 in product during Sale-A-Bration and you can choose one set of the original Blendabilities! (So cool!!!)

As the card came together, I really wanted to continue with the Night of Navy theme and used the Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stacks in the Regal Color Family.  Following along with the sketch, I added a strip of Whisper White bordered with the Night of Navy Cardstock and stamped with the "Wood You Be Mine" sentiment.

Mojo Monday 381 Card Sketch #sunnygirlscraps #stampinup #pamstaples #sunnygirlscraps #mojomondaySo, what do you think?  I think it turned out great!

Here is the Mojo Monday 381 Sketch.  It was fun to play along and I'm thrilled to finally to have used the Wood You Be Mine Stamp Set!

CYCI #53 – You Plus Me Valentine Card

One of the New Year Resolutions that I set for myself and my Stampin' Up! business was to actively participate in more Challenge Blogs as well as post more often to my blog.  This is the first of hopefully many more Challenge Posts to come.  I've been following the "Can You Case It" Challenge Blog for a couple of weeks now and today the theme was perfect.  Early this morning I was preparing for our afternoon Team Meeting and needed a card for a Shoebox swap.  It just happenst that the card I created for the Shoebox Swap fits with this weeks CYCI #53 challenge perfectly.  So, come checkout my card!

Can You Case It #53

You Plus Me Valentine Card

CYCI53-Pam001

The Challenge from Can You Case It #53 is to create a Clean and Quick card with at least 2 layers as well as one embellishment.  Believe me, I whipped this card together easily within 10 minutes as I didn't have much time to spend with my 5 Year Old hanging out with me while Daddy was at church.  Caleb has been sick and we ended up sleeping in this morning and not going to church.  I needed something for the Shoebox Swap but hadn't planned anything and when I saw the Challenge in my email, I knew I had a plan.

I created the background ambiance by using the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set with the Sun stamped with So Saffron Classic Ink then the Dot image is stamped using Crumb Cake Classic Ink on Whisper White which I then attached to Cherry Cobbler.  Next, the embellishment is Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon that I gathered.  The finishing touch was stamping the You + Me image, punching it out with the 1 3/4" Circle Stamp and layering it on Crumb Cake punched out with the 2" Circle Punch.  It really is that Clean and Quick!

PCCCS 127: Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set

It's Wednesday and you know what that means… I'm over at the Paper Craft Crew for the Weekly Card Sketch Challenge!  Come check out this weeks sketch as well as the Design Team submissions.  The challenge starts today and ends on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 at 11:55 pm EST.

Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 127

Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set and Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 127 #stampinup #pamstaples #papercraftcrew

I love this weeks card sketch for the Paper Craft Crew although I admit that I originally struggled to get this card to come together and it wasn't until I was working on my Craft Club card project that inspiration hit me!  I just LOVE the Blendabilities and this months Craft Club I was focusing on teach my club members how to use the Blendabilities.  One of the easiest flowers to start with is a flower found in the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set.  It is a smaller flower with lots of open space.  Each club member colored two flowers – the first one was to learn and the second flower was for their card project.  The members did an awesome job.

Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set and Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 127 #stampinup #pamstaples #papercraftcrewSo… back to my card for this weeks Card Sketch.  I've had the Dictionary Background Stamp since the new catalog came out but had pretty much forgotten about it when I was finally inspired to pull it out.   It creates a great background and really helped set ambiance for this card!  I stamped the Dictionary Background with Crumb Cake Classic Ink then pulled out another old favorite stamp set – Flowering Flourishes!  Its been a while since I used Flowering Flourishes but I just really felt this stamp set would be a nice background compliment to my Beautiful Bunch flower.

The Flowering Flourishes background is stamped using VersaMark then stamped in Pear Pizzazz and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  This is a fun technique that adds a nice feel and a technique I don't use often enough!  At this point, it was time to assemble the card…

Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set and Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 127 #stampinup #pamstaples #papercraftcrew

I layered the stamped whisper white background on Calypso Coral Card Stock then I attached the banner which is made from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper.  The Beautiful Bunch Flower is colored using the Calypso Coral Blendabilities then I wrapped Linen Thread behind the flower and attached a button to the front of the flower.  I placed the flower on the card front slightly off-center.  Of course, I then realised I was missing the sentiment!  What to do!?!?  OK… I turned to my wall of stamp sets and decided the Banner Banter Stamp Set was perfect since I also needed two little banners to coordinate with the sketch.  The pearls were the perfect ending to finish off this card.
