Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #27

Ah, Tea Time!  I'm a huge fan of Tea Cups and have a small collection of Tea Cups that I've collected or have given to me by a very good friend and mentor.  As a young girl, I loved to hang out with our neighbor, Ellie.  Over the years, she has passed on little gifts and family heirlooms to me that she knows I appreciates.  My mom also loves to collect Tea Cups.  Truthfully, I'm not a "big" tea drinker although I do know how to make a proper cup of British Tea as taught to me by my "cousin" Heather who is originally from the Coventry area of England.  These are just a few of the reasons why I just love the Stampin' Up! Tea Shoppe Stamp Set.

Card Sketch #27

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 27 featuring the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set and Tea Time Trinkets from the Spring CatalogTea Time and the Tea Shoppe come together to feature some wonderful Stampin' Up! products.[/caption]OK… I will admit that I did struggle a bit with this card.  IN my mind I had a mental picture of how I wanted the card to look based on the card sketch.  The large tea cup in the Tea Shoppe stamp set is the key focus of this card.  I stamped the tea cup on Very Vanilla with versamark then used the Wild Wasabi embossing powder to heat emboss the tea cup.  My next steps were to select my remaining elements.  I really like the basic gray card stock as base for this card which is layered with Very Vanilla then Designer Series Paper ("DSP") called Fan Fair featuring Pink Pirouette as another primary color.  The flower is created using the Blossom Punch to punch out three flowers from the Pink Pirouette card stock then they were crumpled and bound together with an Antique Brad.  I then tied a Tea Time trinket around the brad.  The "White Peony" was stamped with Basic Gray ink then punched out with the large oval punch and scallop oval punch.

So, I hope you enjoy some "Tea Time" on me!

Here is card sketch 27 from the Paper Craft Crew!  I also encourage you to take the time to visit the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Blog to participate in our Card Sketch and Scrapbook Sketch Challenges.  You can click HERE to visit the Paper Craft Crew!

Welcome to SunnyGirlScraps!

Welcome to this months Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring Spring, Flowers or Weddings.  I've opted to focus on Spring and Flowers.  I absolutely love Springtime with fresh new flowers, new life and the arrival of warmer weather.

Spring Flowers Project # 1

Summer Smooches Suite

The first project I"m featuring in today's blog hop actually includes three small Note Cards.  The note cards measure 3×3 and feature a floral pattern using a new stamp set which will be in the 2012 – 2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog called Bright Blossoms.  Each note card is based on Whisper White with Designer Series Paper from the Summer Smooches suite.  I love the bright colors as they speak of spring, fun and the beauty of bright flowers.  Each note card features a different "floral" design.  All the images are stamped on Whisper White which were colored using the Stampin' Up! Stampin' Write markers using the "huff" or "Breathe of Life" method to remoisten the ink.  I used teh 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch to create the background from Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  The Blue card has a yellow button daisy with a pearl in the center.  The yellow card has a Daffodil Delight Tulip and the red card has two little Real Red flowers.

Spring Flowers Envelope Box Project # 2

Mini Envelope Box Mini Envelope BoxThe second project is a special box I created to hold the three note cards.  I love the simplicity of this box and how easy it is to create it using the Diagonal Scoring Tool available as an accessory to the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.  As the base for this box, I used Daffodil Delight then layered the front of the box with a fun pattern from the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.  The scallop circle is punched out from Old Olive and the stamped image on Whisper White is from the Bright Blossoms stamp set.  The sentiment on the front comes from the Petite Pairs stamp set and is punched out with the Word Window punch.

On the back of the box, I created a flower from Real Red and Pacific Point card stock using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.  This flower actually serves a second purpose as the "latch" to keep the flap on the box closed.

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad March Blog Hop: Easter Projects

Welcome to SunnyGirlScraps!

I'm excited about this months Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop!  You see, I'm a March baby and my birthday is just around the corner on March 6th!  I'm looking forward to hosting my Birthday Bash Pamper Me Stamp & Scrap this coming Saturday.  On my actual birthday, we are getting babysitters for the boys and going to dinner at the Melting Pot with friends.  Another reason I'm so excited is that today it is supposed to hit a whopping 80 degrees which means spring is almost here in North Carolina!  Spring is my favorite season.

If you've arrived from either Nikki's blog, Creations by Mommy, or Kim Ryden's blog, Stamping with Kim, I hope you enjoyed their projects.  The Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop theme for the month of March is Spring, St. Patrick's Day, Baby or Easter.  The one key requirement is that we post a card and 3D project.  I hope you enjoy the projects that I've posted.  If you enjoy my projects, I would LOVE to hear from you and ask that you leave a comment and also feel free to pin these projects to Pinterest but just make certain to include a link to this blog post.  Finally, I encourage you to visit all the blogs on the blog hop.  So, on that note, welcome to the…

Easter Project #1 – Easter Dove Card

Easter Dove Stamp SetThe first project I'm featuring for the Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop features the Easter Dove A la Carte Stamp from the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  This is a beautiful stamp perfect for a religious themed Easter card.

The base is Whisper White with a layer of Certainly Celery.  This is the first card that I've used the Edgelits Dies on and I just have to share that I've fallen in love with the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies!  They create such a unique and interesting border.  After I used the edgelit, I then stamped a matching border using the Bordering on Romance Stamp Set also found in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.

My next step was to add the elements which starts with Crumb Cake Ribbon Seam Binding gathered on the center of the card.  I then used the new Blossom punch to create a flower which was layered over the gathered ribbon.  I punched out two Blossom's and dry embossed them with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  To create depth and interest with the flowers, I sponged the raised portion with Blushing Bride ink and the edges were sponged with Soft Suede ink.  I added a cross from the Crosses of Hope Stamp Set.  The cross was stamped on Certainly Celery card stock using Whisper White Craft Ink then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

On another piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the "He is Risen" Easter Dove and punched it out using the Decorative Label punch.  The final touch was to add three mini flowers created from using the Boho Blossoms punch with Blushing Bride and Certainly Celery card stock.  Each flower has a Pearl Jewel placed in the center.  On the bottom left corner of the card, I added two Large Pearl Basic Jewels.

Easter Project #2 – Easter Bunny Punch Art Pail

Easter Bunny Punch ArtThis little Easter Bunny Punch Art is one of my favorite Easter Projects!  He is just so darn cute!  To create the bunny, I start with Whisper White card stock and  the Top Note Bigz Die to create the body of the Bunny.  Then I use various Stampin' Up! punches to create the ears, feet, nose and eyes.  The ears and feet are created using Whisper White punched out with the Extra-Large Oval Punch.  For the inside of the ears I used Baja Breeze card stock punched with the Large Oval Punch.  The "heel" pad on the feet is the Baja Breeze card stock punched using the 1" Circle Punch and the cute little toes are punched from hearts.  The nose is two 1 1/4" circles with the "fat" heart from the Heart to Heart Punch.  The eyes created with Basic Black card stock punched using the 3/4" Circle Punch.  My favorite touch is the cute little bunny tongue which I created using the rounded tip of a heart.  Finally, I attached the bunny to the pail with a piece of Organza Ribbon glued to the bunny and tied onto the pail.  A great feature of doing it this way it allows the bunny to be removed and the pail used for another purpose.

The pail is a product I purchased through a bulk buy program that I discovered through some other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  You actually do not have to be a demonstrator to participate and there is usually at least one bulk buy a month.

SUOC 32 – Thankful

Time again for another challenge with the SU! Only Challenge blog.  Today we bring to you SUOC 32 with the theme being "Thankful." We really are thankful for all our followers that participate with the SU! Only Challenge blog.  It is so much fun to see all the great ideas from all our participants.

Thankful

Autumn Days Stamp SetIn the United States, we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving at the end of the month.  It is a time to remember and be thankful for family, friends, and our forefathers.  This year we are staying home and are not certain what we will be doing or who we will be spending Thanksgiving with but we do know that we will be thankful for what we have along with our friends and family.

For this challenge and with the theme being "thankful," I wanted to keep the card simple yet elegant.  I also wanted to use the Specialty Designer Series Paper First Edition as a key portion of the design.  This card really keeps to the feel of "Thanksgiving" evoking the feel of simple life with the wheat.  The wheat provides the pop of color stamped in Cajun Craze along with the sentiment.  To create a focal point, I highlighted the wheat with the Chocolate Chip cardstock which was punched out using the Oval's Die then embossed with the Oval Designer Frame.  Of course, I love doing the gathered look with ribbon.

Sunny Girl Scraps Tips:

  • Using either a light on dark or dark on light background is a great way create a focal point to feature a stamped image.
  • Have fun with your elements
  • Don't be afraid to use Designer Series Paper for a background or added secondary focal point.

Stampin’ Up! Halloween Treat Box

Trick of Treat

Personally, I prefer a Treat over a "trick!"  So, how about enjoying some cute eye candy with this special box…

Stampin' Up! Halloween Treat Box!

Big Shot Candy Wrapper DieIt's time for another Stampin' Up! Only Challenge.  The theme for this challenge is "treats."  Since Halloween is just around the corner, I opted to create a Halloween Treat Box.  This box can hold one large Candy Bar or two smaller Snack Size Candy Bars.

To create the box, I used a technique I learned at the 2011 Stampin' Up! Convention.  For the longer box, you use the Bigz L Candy Wrapper Die but fold the cardstock about 1 5/8" then carefully layer the folded portion over the center of the die so it doesn't get cut.  After you run everything through the Big Shot and unfold the folded section, you'll have a longer Candy Wrapper.

The bats were stamped all over the black cardstock then I used the Tangerine Tango embossing powder to make the bats "pop" on this Spooky treat box.  I used basic black grosgrain ribbon to tie the ends.  All stamped images come from the Wicked Cool stamp set which I received as a free stamp set when I attended the 2010 Stampin' Up! Convention.
