SUO Challenge #122

Fun Flowers

Fun Flowers SUOC 122 Design Team Card created by Pam Staples.Welcome back to the SUO Challenge.  We are excited to be back in full swing after having a Blog Malfunction which crashed our blog for about 10 days!  Today, we are bringing you a NEW Challenge Theme of Fun Flowers.  Springtime is my favorite time of the year as I just love the new life blooming and all the gorgeous flowers.  My absolute favorite flowers are Peonies, Irisis, Tulips, Lilac and Snapdragons.  You'll notice that most of those flowers are spring flowers.

I'm pretty excited to share that I recently found a place were I can actually get Peony Bushes and not just the bulbs to plant.  I DO NOT have a green thumb – I would say it is more of a gray/green thumb as it is hit or miss whether or not I'll kill a plant or it will thrive.  This is my second round with Peony Bushes.  I want them SOOO bad as the Peony has special meaning to me as my wedding flower (along with Cala Lilies).  I did discover that I planted my peony bush bulbs in the wrong place to close to bushes and the Peony does NOT like to compete for water with other bushes.  Hopefully, I'll have a gardening success story to share with you over the next few months and over the year.

Now that I've established that I LOVE flowers, here is my design team card for the Fun Flower SUO Challenge.  My preorder package of goodies just arrived so I decided to use some of the new In-Colors and products.  The background on my card starts with a new stamp set – You've Got This – stamped with the Mint Macaron which is also a new In-Color.

The accents on my card started with me using the Watermelon Wonder Dotted Lace Trim gathered along the left bottom edge of the card.  Then I added the banner with the sentiment stamped from the "You've Got This" stamp set.  For the flowers I used the Flower Shop Stamp Set with the coordinating Pansy Punch and the flowers are stamped with Blushing Bride Classic Ink.  I actually really like the Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride together.  To finish off the flowers I added the silver Basic Metal Buttons with Linen Thread.  I finished the card front by adding a Watermelon Wonder layer then attached the card front to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.

My focus was to really showcase a couple of the NEW In Colors while keeping the card fairly simple with just a hint of sophistication by adding the Dotted Lace Trim.  Let me just say that I LOVE the Doted Lace Trim in ALL the colors.

Don't forget to visit the SUO! Challenges Blog to check out the creations from the other Design Team members!

I invite you to pin any of my creations to Pinterest and to share your thoughts or questions by leaving me a comment.  I love hearing from all my readers – word of mouth is one of the greatest forms of flattery.
