SQSC #26 – Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine Day!  My husband and I celebrated on Monday with dinner out at the Melting Pot.  The Melting Pot is one of my favorite restaurants and the Valentine special is wonderful.  My husband generously lets me have his Lobster Tail.  Well, onto this weeks episode of the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge.

Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration

Fresh Vintage Stamp Set

This week I'm featuring the Fresh Vintage 2012 Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  I love this stamp set and the floral design.  The main image I used is more of a background to the Butterflies and creates a beautiful floral layered over the three banners created with the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment was created with the Fabulous Phrases stamp set matching together the words "forever love."  I used the Curly Label punch for the sentiment. The brad accent is also part of the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack found in the 2012 Sale-A-Bration brochure.

The background is the Naturals White Card Stock.  The additional layers are Lucky Limeade which is one of the new 2011 – 2013 In Colors.  I love the 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon which finishes off this card.  Finally, the butterflies were created using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die.  The larger butterfly is also layered with vellum cardstock and I used the Pearl Jewels.

SQSC 26 SketchIf you have the opportunity, we would love to have you join in the fun and create a card using this weeks sketch for the Stampin' Queens!  Here is the sketch!  We love having our readers participate.  I know I enjoy seeing everyone's creations along with their interpretation of the card sketch.

SQSC 22 Everyday Enchantment

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek

Everyday Enchantment Designer Series PaperThis week for the Stampin’ Queen’s Sketch Challenge 22, I’m featuring another sneak peek of Everyday Enchantment from the 2012 Sale-A-Bration brochure. The colors and patterns are just beautiful. I actually get a little sad thinking that Poppy Parade will be retiring in June after seeing this Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!

The moment I saw this weeks sketch for SQSC 22, I just knew what I was going to do and that I wanted to use the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. I just knew that the colors would work so well together with the Poppy Parade and Calypso Coral. If anything, my love for the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper will mean that I use up my Poppy Parade card stock before it retires at the end of June 2012.

I hope you find inspiration with this weeks sketch along with my Design Team sample. Besides using the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper, I stamped an image from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set then cut it out using the new Framelits Dies Labels Collection which I layered on Poppy Parade card stock. The “Just for You” from the Precious Butterflies Hostess Stamp Set found in the 2011 – 2012 Stampin’ Up! Catalog. The flower is from the Button Buddies Stamp Set.

SQSC 22 Sketch ChallengeThis is the sketch for SQSC 22! There are lots of wonderful inspiration by the other Design Team members on the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge blog, so take the time to visit the Stampin’ Queen’s Sketch Challenge blog. We love it when our stamping friends participate and post their wonderful creations!

New Product Review – Framelits Die!

I'm really excited about some new products that Stampin' Up! has introduced in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  If you own a Big Shot or similar die cutting machine you may already be familiar with a similar product that has been on the market for a while starting with the letter "N!"  This new Stampin' Up! product comes with the Stampin' Up! guarantee of a quality product.  So, let me introduce you to the…

Framelits!

Framelits Dies Labels CollectionFramelits Dies Hearts CollectionTo the left, you'll see a sample of the two Framelits Dies currently available in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  There is the Hearts Collection (125599) and Labels Collection (125598) each individually priced at $26.95 and exclusive to Stampin' Up!  As described in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog, the Framelits Dies are "innovative, thin, wafer-like design."  So what makes these Framelits Dies unique?  The design of these Framelits mean "you see where you're placing the design before you cut!"  Another great feature of these Framelits Dies is that Stampin' Up! can create matching stamp sets.  For example, The Labels Collection of the Framelits Dies coordinates with the Apothecary Art stamp set.

When using the Framelits with a stamped image, you layer the appropriate sized Framelit over the stamped image then run it through the Big Shot.  Then you can "layer dies inside each other to cut frames for stamp images.  Cut single hearts or labels for accents or layering."  One rule of thumb that you should generally be followed is to use a single sheet of card stock or Designer Series Paper.  I have seen people create a card using 2 layers of card stock or Designer Series Paper, but you need to keep in mind the thickness of the cardstock and I personally would not have more than two light weight card stock layers to create a folded card in the shape of the Framelits Dies that you have used.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I share a card I created using the Labels Collection with the Apothecary Art Stamp Set.  I have to say that I'm in love with the Apothecary Art Stamp Set especially when paired with the Framelits Dies Labels Collection.  As I become more familiar with these products myself, I'm certain you'll see more of them here on my blog.

Easter Bunny Punch Art

So Darn Cute:  Easter Bunny Punch Art!

These Easter Bunny punch art boxes are so darn cute!  What could be more fun than celebrating Easter by making this great craft project with your family or to make the Easter Bunny punch art boxes as a surprise filled with lots of Easter goodies?  Maybe there isn't time to do them this year for Easter but then again, who needs it to be Easter to make these boxes!  They make great "spring" themed boxes.

My original inspiration for these bunnies comes from a fellow demonstrator, Wendy Hawkinson.  When I saw these punch art Easter Bunnies, I knew I had to give them a try.  Let's just say these will become a regular Easter tradition in our family.

The key elements to these Easter Bunny Punch Art Boxes are the Stampin' Up! Punches as well as the Big Shot to create the base of the bunny bodies using the Top Note Die.  Additional materials utilized on the creation of these cute bunnies include Uni-ball Signo Gel White Pen, Whisper White Cardstock, Basic Black Cardstock, Bashful Blue Cardstock, Pretty In Pink Cardstock (or any other color of choice), Sahara Sand Ink Pad, Sponge Dauber, and Stampin' Up! ink to match the colored cardstock.

To make this fun project, I used the Big Shot and Top Note bigz Die to create the base of the body for the bunnies.  To make two boxes, you'll need four Top Note bases cut from Whisper White cardstock.  Then you'll need to punch 6 Wide Ovals from Whisper White using the Wide Oval XL punch as well as two 1 1/4 Circles using the 1 1/4 Large Circle Punch per bunny.  After all your pieces are punched out from the Whisper White, use your sponge dauber and Sahara Sand Classic Ink to lightly "color" around the edges of the punched pieces as well as the Top Note bunny bodies.  Next, using the Heart to Heart Punch, punch out the Bashful Blue and Pretty In Pink pieces of the bunny.  You'll need one medium heart in each color for the nose and six small hearts for the toes of your bunny.  For the bunny ears, use the 1 3/4" x 7/8" Oval L Punch by punching out two each bashful blue and pretty in pink.  For the heal of the bunny, use the 1" Circle Medium Punch.  Finally, I used the 3/4" circle punch to make a tail for the bunny which isn't shown in this picture.  Each piece of colored cardstock was sponged around the edges in the coordinating ink color using a sponge dauber.  Finally, I also used the 3/4" Circle Medium Punch to punch out eyes from the Basic Black cardstock for the bunnies.  The uni-ball signo gel pen in white was used to create "light" reflection and add "feeling" to the bunnies.  Assemble the Top Note bunny using Dimensionals and adhesive.  I used dimensionals on the "nose/snout" portion of the bunny and on the floppy ears.  To create the whiskers, I just cut strips of Whisper White cardstock.

The boxes for the Easter Bunny Punch Art box was created using 1 sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for each bunny.  To duplicate the box, place the sheet in the "landscape" position and score 4" inches in from each edge.  Then turn the sheet 1/4" turn into the "Portrait" position and score 2 3/4" inches in from each edge of the cardstock.  Along the Landscape side of the box, I used my paper snips and cut each crease to the intersecting crease (do not cut out any of the cardstock – you are just cutting along the score lines to make it easier to fold).  Assemble the box using Sticky Strip.

OK… I have a confession!  The direction for the box makes sense to me but I'm the person writing the instructions.  BUT, they might be confusing to you.  If you have any questions about the dimensions and assembly of the box, please don't hesitate to email me.  It did take me a couple of tries to get the "box" portion of the bunny to be just right for what I wanted.
